I know. It means walking on your toes. Read my edit. Forum is definitely not what I meant to say.

QUOTE(Arin @ Sep 14 2007, 09:57 AM) 441795
New Novice (but now recent graduate)

She is a bouncing furrikin and resembles a mere four-and-a-half foot tall
rabbit, with gunmetal grey fur and violet eyes. She is built slight, but agile,
like a dancer or a gymnast, and posesses thicker hips and long digigrade legs,
but a much weaker upper body. Not someone you want to get kicked by, even as
small as she is...
Http://fc02.deviantart.com/fs10/i/2006/158...by_askerian.jpg. She is wearing a long black dress, and a snowy pack frosted with
silver snowflakes.

This beats the lactating nipples desc.
Also, the fanart's author would better have a really good reason why they turned Itachi (from Naruto, I presume - despite the horrors, there is still some resemblance) into a bunnygirl...

On second thought, I don't want to know.

QUOTE(mitbulls @ Sep 14 2007, 09:53 AM) 441852
Did she seriously use the word 'digigrade'? It's not even a real word, it's more of a slang word, and even in that sense she didn't use it correctly...also, what color is 'gunmetal'?

I sense a visitor from one of IREs other well-known games, which I won't name to protect the identity of the games involved, as well as to avoid bad-mouthing other IRE games on the forums.

To my understanding, gunmetal is a sort of grey-ish black, but there's not much to distinguish it between grey and black. You mostly see it used to describe someone's Hummer or other SUV.

And is that really supposed to be a guy? I won't say it's the creepiest thing I've seen (a friend of mine knows a very convincing cross-dresser in real life, and has pictures of him), but that's still unnerving.

Because bunnygirls are teh hawt.

Oh, wait, that wasn't a quote.

QUOTE(Xinemus)
Because bunnygirls are teh hawt.
Arin2007-09-14 22:57:08
I told her to change it.

She won't take out digigrade or gunmetal grey.

She insists that it is a colour description versus a **** reference to something that doesn't really exist in Lusternia.

She's taken out the website though...

(Yay! We now have the Playboy bunny in Celest)
Unknown2007-09-14 23:21:08
Using non-Lusternia words in your description is okay. Because it's the PLAYER who reads the description, and not the CHARACTER. I still remember anal people who had issues about Ialie having *chocolate* coloured skin. So what if there's no chocolate in Lusternia? You know what she meant, didn't you? Good. Now f*** off. (directed at aforementioned anal people, not at the reader)
Unknown2007-09-14 23:56:46
Is it really? I'm not convinced, though I probably wouldn't bother to make a fuss about it.
Arin2007-09-15 00:52:01
I'm not convinced either...

So for example if I wrote a description like this:

He is a human and carries with him an odour akin to petrol and is covered with potch-marked scars not unlike bullet wounds...

that's ok?

I'm going to make a novice in your guild with a fur pattern resembling the circuitboard of a computer, eyes the color of a Starbucks caramel machiatto, and wavy hair spiraled like Scary Spice in the mid-1990s.

Gunmetal, depending on which shade, is like the middle color between black and gray. That, or it's just a shiny metallic sort of silver.

Either way, it is not related to Lusternia, it's OOC, and needs to be changed. There are no guns in Lusternia. If she refuses, oust her from the guild and city until she regains her sanity. Honestly, you shouldn't be lax about that sort of stuff.

laugh.gif You could make it all IC if you didn't word it like that.

But I severely disagree that descs are for the PLAYER and not the CHARACTER. In game I imagine my character sort of ignoring everyone until she takes a closer look at them (when she looks at them), and really takes in detail. OOC references should not be used in a description.

It's a roleplaying world, people. Roleplaying.

You can't seriously tell me that you don't take in people easily. I have a horrible memory for names and faces, but it's not exactly difficult to take in a great deal of visual information abnout someone at just a glance - basic skin type, discolourations, moles, hair colour, build, shape of limbs, etc.

One could also argue that a great deal of visual information at 'first glance' would cover everything you could learn by simply checking their HONOURS and noticing what race they were. I certainly don't notice moles on people at first glance, but I notice what they're wielding in the room, their title, and their race.

So, for instance, if I were to say offhand what I remembered of the character Penna, who is standing right next to my character right now in Lusternia, I could say she was a young Trillian Cantor, which is more than enough to narrow the Lusternian playerbase down in order to single out.

Edit: Furthermore, my character is Merian, and may not care to notice the subtle differences the other races have among individuals of that species. To her, all Trill may look the same, or all Lucidians look identical. At a first glance, she is going to see the major things - gender, race, and what prominent items they're holding. Not "It was a Trillian Cantor with a long crest of dusty silver-blue feathers spilling over her shoulders."
Yrael2007-09-15 02:26:56
Nevermind, I thought you used a real life reference in there about how you don't take in much detail unless you stare at them. My mistake.

I agree completely. It's just as easy to describe grey in any number of other ways, and it sounds like she just wants to be difficult. If halter tops are too futuristic, guns bloody well are. Set an example. Explain why it's insane, and politely, compassionately inform her that the only merciful way to permanently remedy insanity is to sever the link between brain and body with a large, rather dull blade. Naturally, it doesn't always work the first time, so repeat treatments may be necessary, but you're willing to make that sacrifice for her mental health. happy.gif
