Letting Daedalion have a go at me sitting, doing nothing, with system on:
Daedalion plays the Ebony Mandolin of Mahalla and directs the trembling notes towards you.
You feel suddenly tired and enervated as the music washes over you.
You hear an ominous sound, and a dull pain stab throbs throughout your head.
You hear strange whispers, and a sharp pain stabs you between the eyes.

Now I have this image in my head of the Star Council furiously disco dancing in polyester suits and giant afros. Thanks, Alodia

Dude, why are you quoting this? It's perfectly balanced. Bards have been nerfed enough. Leave them alone, they need this bit of dmg to have any chance at all in combat. We both know how much they suck.
Besides, why weren't you curing barbs? In a real combat situation he'd have a hard time stacking them on you anyhow, so this is not even something that should be taken seriously.

Well put!
If only you weren't so hard to stun and afflict, it would be different, but bards have a hard time ever getting to their killing condition. Plus, let's not disregard the sheer skill that Daedalion put into setting you up for that damage. Some amount of the problem must be attributed to his skillful manipulation of his skills - give him some credit instead of the nerf complaints!

That's stupid to quote as he hit you with the ego/mana attack, note that harbingers have a double mana drain songso thus = double health dmg.
Now, minorsecond...arg nerf.

So... why aren't monks allowed to do 3k+ dmg if you let them get your limb to 1-2k wounds? After all they do on average 300-400 wounds per full combo, so it'd be stupid to let your limb get that high in the first place. And then it would -still- be only around half compared to a bard since we'd not do another 3k in mana / ego. That's fair ain't it.

Btw, if Serenwilde got more fighting bards ( I think right now we have like zero while Glomdoring has quite a few ) do you think you'd change your opinion?

It's stupid to quote that he does massive damage because he has a song that doubles his damage?

Zia's a fighting bard. However, she masquerades under the guise of el Zirra and wields a battle axe so no one actually notices that she fights as a Spiritsinger.

(Also, Harbingers really only have Kaervas and Daedalion. Spiritsingers have Zia and Lendren, and a few minor ones. So really, balances out.)

Let's see you beat Sojiro, Geb, Forren (not just sitting there), Thoros, or uh, Murphy I guess, and not just lowbies you know can't fight back in the mountains, before you talk about "you can hardly call that a combatant." Also she's not a mugwump.
Zia knows what she's doing. I'm not at all confident you could do anything as a class that required effort.
EDIT: Plus I notice you got wrecked by Sarrasri in a fair duel...
Krellan2007-10-02 01:10:38
Aww don't be too hard on him. It's not his fault he's got one of the better bard guilds. He's only been the -champion- forever. He's got high standards for combat. give the weed a break.
