More than 15 lessons at a time

I'm not sure what kind of game balance thing the "max 15 lessons at a time" thing enforces. But is it needed for novices fresh out of the portals? How about allowing novices under level 5 to do a maximum of 40 instead? It'd make teaching novices so much easier for both them and the people teaching them -- and thus help improve the newbie experience, which was recently being discussed as needing some attention.

Hell, let's do this for everyone. Allowing people to learn all their lessons at once would in no way unbalance the gameplay, would just make it faster.

Taking ages to get to trans is horrid >.< You're basiscally forced to go AFK just to keep your sanity.

yeah I have to add a trigger to learn 15 from Avarath when learning, Then I just go idle and watch 2 hours of cartoons.... since it takes forever tongue.gif

Agree.

I thought that'd be too much to ask for, though I've never seen the point of the gradual, repetitive training for anyone, ever. But someone coded it, so maybe there's a reason. Maybe not, I dunno.

Even if there is some obscure reason, though, it can't be as important as making the novice experience less frustrating and more fun. And the novice-aide experience, too, since part of making novices stay is making novice-aiding more survivable.

There have been times where I've made novices in IRE games, gotten halfway through my learning, and just said 'screw it' out of boredom. Now, I've been through the process half a million times already, so perhaps I'm not the best example of a 'newbie', but it's certainly a detriment to the experience.

Increased lesson intervals would be great. There are only a number of times one can repeat the same routine over and over and over again, especially in discipline where your tutor has to slap you across the face each lesson.

I have wished for this since I learned my first set of lessons. I'd love to see it!
Athana2006-10-07 02:50:31
This would be awesome, I never really understood the point of having a limit on lessons anyway
Unknown2006-10-07 05:36:51
I believe the 15-at-a-time limit was to prevent credit whores from being all like

"Yarr! Taste the power of the Stag!"
"lol stag serengard suck"
*ducks out for 1 minute*
"Yarr! Taste the power of the Moon!"

and basically changing their skills suddenly.

Novies have it nice in Lusternia though... its 30 seconds, verus the minute in the other games :-p

That doesn't change anything, though, Blastron. It just means you'll experience a bit more downtime between skills. And changing frm stag to moon would still lose you a good deal of lessons, which is penalty enough.
Unknown2006-10-07 13:38:44
I didn't say it was a -good- reason, I just said it was a reason.
Verithrax2006-10-07 14:26:02
What about raising it to 30 lessons when learning from another player, 60 lessons when learning from your mentor with increased lesson gain for the mentor?

Yeah, I wouldn't really see that as much of a threat to the game. If they're buying credits I'm sure Iron Realms is happy! biggrin.gif

Would encourage the Mentor System which is rarely used.

I said thhe thing about more lessons learning from mentors a while ago in another thread, only I said 16 or 20 or something tongue.gif

Undersecretaries should get enough to get people through novice training without repeating anything, too. Need to encourage people to do those.

I like the idea. There really isn't much of a barrier other than sitting down for six seconds and going up to 2 skill ranks. Learn 60 discipline anyone?
