I just started the game today. Right now I don’t even know where I am now. All I know what to do is to walk around (north, south, east etc…). Can someone be nice enough to tell me what I should do first? What are some common commands that I should know?
These are some command that I already know:
Jump, punch, kick, inv, ql, get, put.
I can't find anything newbie help, so i posted here...

Did you go thru the tutorial?

Did you join a guild? If the answer is yes, check GWHO to see who's around. There should be at least 1 other person. Ask them for help using GNT - type in "GNT help, what do I do now?" or something like that.

You had the option of joining a guild at before the actual game started, when you inputed your name and race etc.

1. I think I went though half way on the tutorial and somehow ended.
2. How do you join a guild????
3. Also.. i just got killed by some finks. I think i lose everything.
4. I still don't know where i am. Some people told me to click portal and then something else. Anyway I will play later..
1. It's best to play the tutorial until the very end. But you killed the shadow (because you know how to punch and kick), so I think you did.
2. You do so at the start of the tutorial, when the Fates ask you what kind of guild were you in. If you didn't do so then, you'll have to ask someone high-ranked from a guild you want to join, to inguild you.
3. It's best to get a guild and learn how to blast/cosmicfire/curse/use clubs or shortswords before trying to kill finks in Newton. You don't lose everything when you die, only money (if not in your pack), herbs (if not in your rift) and repopping things (like quest items or corpses).
4. You can use PORTALS, then READ SIGN for directions. Newton to the north, cities/communes of Lusternia to the south. You can also read maps on the website - you start at Avechna's Peak, near Newton.

Just as a generic hint, there isn't much (if any) clicking in the game. When we type something in all capitals, that's a command to type out and send to the game. Any clicking would just be to use the program that connects you to the game. The game itself is 100% text. (It sounds a little strange at first, but if you have decent reading and writing skills, it's every bit as intuitive as something graphical.)
Most characters belong to two organizations, a guild and a city or commune. Cities and communes are, practically speaking, the same thing. A city is an urban place where characters live. A commune is a foresty place where characters live. A guild exists inside of a city or commune and determines what skills your character has access to. You can choose a guild in the tutorial or by looking at the help files for the individual guilds. (I think HELP GUILDS has a full list of guilds. Each guild has its own help file. You can check HELP BLACKTALON to see a brief summary of who is in charge, who is currently online and able to grant you entrance , and blurb on what the guild stands for.) The people in your guild or city/commune are usually gushing with helpful information, although a lot of the actual work they'll still expect you to do yourself. After all, what fun is the game if people just hand you the stuff you could earn?
The basics of communication are covered in the tutorial. You can SAY to talk to the people in your room, TELL to send a private message to anyone online and within range, or use the NEWBIE channel to talk to the younger and older players in the game. If you join a guild, you can use GNT (guild novice talk) in much the same way that you use NEWBIE to communicate with your guild, and CT (city/commune talk) to communicate with your city or commune. Communication is key to enjoying the game! It's the interaction with other people, both cooperatively and competitively, that makes it so much fun.
If you're new to multiplayer roleplaying, you might also want to check out HELP ROLEPLAYING and HELP MADNESS. They explain the concepts better than I could.

HELP NEWPLAYERS is also useful to read. You can also use HELP "something" and the game will look up what you put after HELP. For example, if you don't know what a pack is, you can just input HELP PACK and the system will search for any help files which may be related to packs. Most of these files come with commands that are useful to know.
