Aetherspace Hunt

To respond to a few of the points:

1. There were multiple of each item. When people tried to hoard all of the items, I manually reset them to prevent them from doing so.

2. Most of the items were added specifically for the race. They didn't exist at all before, so it's not surprising that you hadn't seen them.

3. Tarot Hermit was banned because that is a loophole. As is using illusionary manses and tents to get between the planes. They're all bugs that haven't yet been fixed!

4. I thought it was a great race overall, and Kaervas and Shamarah's crews were constantly neck-and-neck. Great job!

If you can think of any ways to improve any future aetherspace events, please post them! I love getting feedback on these things, and it was certainly as much a learning experience for us as for you guys since this is the first aetherspace event we've hosted.

I also could have whistled us instantly back to the dock, but we flew from south Astral back to the rift. Not that I disagree the whole thing was crazy, but its not like you wouldn't have used distribution like we did to speed up. Which is also 'cheating'.

To sum up: " I coulda cheated more by I did so just enough to steal 1st from you, pwd'd"

No. I feel like crap because I don't think we deserved to win. I don't really know if the other two crews deserved to win either, but the whole thing was extremely frustrating. Not to mention extremely confusing.

I'm sorry you didn't win, but I'm not sure what you would like me to do about it.

I did pretty well considering I had no crew, just annoyed that I never thought of looking for a new astral bubble before it was announced. Ah well. tongue.gif

Nothing, you did a great job too. Perhaps I'm a little bitter to have my headache for driving at faster than lightning speeds mean a few master palettes, and Narsrim get mad at Forren for stopping to kill tendrils in the interim when we were actually in 1st place.

They said aethercraft skills were the only ones we could use. Hermit is not an aethercraft skill, while flashpoints are.

Now, if the whining is coming from "we didn't know what we could use", you should just stop now, because it was obvious from the start (and hey, I even asked Morgfyre for clarification, and flashpoints were still fine).

If the debate is "flashpoints give an extremely unfair advantage", well, you might have something there. However, each commander, if they had the skill, should have set a return flashpoint to the peak.

I will also point out that we had no combateers, so you could have jinsunjolted us off of the dock when you knew we were there. If you had done so with Elryn still on the bubble, and then blown up our command module, we would have been out of the game entirely...
Shamarah2006-10-08 01:38:49
It was fun. Shouldn't allow flashpoints though.

BTW, if skills that let you jump between ships are bugs, you'll also want to fix demesne center and spores.

I was lucky to remain on standby with Richter's aethership when we got Jinsonjolted on Frostica. If it wasn't for me, Richter's team would still be stuck up on snow world.
Shamarah2006-10-08 02:11:18
Seems like our group was the only one that actually enjoyed the event, heh.

I actually had some fun. Spammy as hell, but fun.

I think maybe with something like this, maybe too many people were competing. I saw a bunch of ships out there, some I've never seen before, so I think there should have been a few less teams and more people. Killing the beasts probably needed a "landing party", and some reservists.

Morgfyre, I'd like to see a different event that promoted Ship to Ship combat, especially boarding. I had a little idea for this I posted but didn't get a lot of feedback for.

The gist of the idea is you have a "defending" team and one or more "attackers", with the defenders having the limitation of staying close to one area. Maybe a sort of piracy. If you ever do "Nexus Worlds", that could be key. Or maybe a quest to protect a key Denzien on a trip.
