the glom bards have three abilities which enhance the three night specific fae, I'm assuming seren bards will have copies but for moon fae... city bards might have something for angels and demons respectively as well.

Venom drops I assume is a Warrior buff, for applied poisons on weapons.(increased chance to hit?)

It looks like the bards might be in high demand in all the nations by month's end.

Everyone's talking about Bards in terms of combat potential and bashing. What about the art, the music, the culture!?? >.>
Zenji will have quite a few suggestions for seren bards when the time comes for short affliction poems. biggrin.gif

I'm just going to be the Bard that just plays music...Hoping to get credits and Trans!

ZOMG support class FTW sad.gif

I have never seen a true support class in any IRE.. Estarra, I'm your slave sad.gif

If I were a bard, I'd start a mariachi band. We'd follow enemies around and annoy the crap out of them until they either attack us or tip us
Ixion2006-10-10 22:25:03
Sure did! I saw that episode.

It takes ages. I've been using my lute almost non-stop for 2 days, and it's up to 23% aptitude.

I know people are saying 'don't compare it with warrior costs', but maybe you need to think of instrumental tuning being like forging for a specific stat, be that maximum precision, damage or wounding, etc.

*cough at 400 sequential forgings to get goodish swords*

Not sure if it's been asked (and answered) before but are the race specializations planned for bards as well? pray.gif

Well we've started to see glom using their bards in influencing. Looks like they can chant for others, or.. something. unsure.gif

Playing a Support class in Lusternia is an interesting idea to me. I've played support classes in graphical MMORPGs, but those games usually have a far better meshing of abilities that allow for the other classes to protect the support class.

Forging is a trade skill. It's not required. I don't think there's a way for you to have another Bard tune your instrument for you.

twitch.gif There is this skill set .. it's called Healing, the whole premise of it is that you can heal yourself and others.

Why do so many other skill sets have a skill snuck in that can do the same blasted thing(tarot, rituals, stag, music, ect), it's like having the healing skill set all rolled up into one skill, and you don't have to sacrifice offence to get it. ranting.gif

Well uh maybe because skills like healing are limited to 1 guild per city. Blacktalon can't heal, use astrology, or hex, however Shadowdancers can do all this. It's so people can customise characters better but skills like the ones you mentioned are quite limited to specific guilds (including music because, obviously, only bards can learn that!).

I've yet to decide if it's a bad thing that aptitude takes so long to develop, but I definitely wouldn't compare it to forging for top stats. At 0% aptitude, I do something like 370 magic damage to an undeffed person, with all other factors that affect the damage being pretty high. It really looks like only a maestro, bonded instrument will be good. It takes a lot of effort to get to competence, and unlike weapons stats, there's no possibility of getting something better than other people will.

EDIT: It's like training a falcon in the other IRE games. Anyway, it looks like it'll be pretty good for bashing, and there are ways of modifying the damage for PvP that I haven't tested yet, so I'm withholding judgement.

Was this mentioned/noticed yet (or is this what you meant by "bonded" instrument)? Getting tired so I don't think I want to skim this and the other bard-related threads ...

I know this might be a little early (damn you Earth, orbit faster!), but will it be possible to get one of the special item runes from say a cudgel and transfer it to an instrument?

I can't find anything in the relevant help files that talks about such things, so I hope it is possible! I have a bad feeling about it, but maybe the Divinities will be nice... pray.gif

When you detach a rune it is instantly converted to 2/3 value in bound credits.
