Elryn, that's the coolest part of having an instrument--grabbing the neck of your mandolin and smashing them in the face with it to stun them!

It's a mini-portable demesne.
so.. bards sort of have unkillable ents(songs) following them?
Or are the songs more like room attacks they need time to set up? Which would be more equivilant to setting up darkmoon in a room?
Unknown2006-10-13 12:20:41
They follow (except things like Octave), but they only last 60 seconds, so it's more something that is setup on the fly. You use almost half their duration if you are just setting up 9 of them, so it's more pick and choose.
Unknown2006-10-13 12:45:50
So it's like a time-sensitive entourage but with room attacks.
There could be some interesting applications/weaknesses with that combination. To me it looks like they'll be much stronger in group combat then other classes, and weaker 1v1.
Edit:How many songs can be going in one room at the same time? Is that what the Fugue ability is?
If so.. could you imagine 5 bards Vs 5.. I don't know warriors. The bards enter with all 9 stanzas up, and in the first few seconds each enemy has 45 afflictions. even if they cured them, they'd have a new 45 afflictions the next tic...

I don't have the ab files, but the vast majority of songs look like they're not afflictions. They're more effective poison, faster fae, etc, etc. Support, not offense.

First, no, instruments do not count as weapons for weapon parry.
Second, Bardic passive effects don't stack, so, two Harbingers with the same effect going on wouldn't double the effect.

Aww, there goes my dream of deadly squads of super overpowered bards roaming the land, pwning armies, or anything else getting in their way.
Unknown2006-10-13 15:02:51
"Overpowered bards" is an oxymoron.
Unknown2006-10-13 15:17:11
Wouldn't have been if afflictions would have stacked that way, they would have been unbeatable in groups.
Sylphas2006-10-13 16:32:36
Which is why they don't. Same reason they fixed demesne stacking.

About 24 hours now until Necroscream music is released.
Watch out for the alts Magnagora!

Wheee. Time for me to look into getting a custom instrument made. I think I'll have to start with a Bob mandolin while I wait for the design and instrument to be ready.

Awesome, hope everything goes well for Aia.

I have a feeling once Arix becomes a bard he'll become something like this guy.

I'm scarred for life thanks to you, Phred.

Note that I was actually ALIVE when that first aired, back I think in 1976 or 1977...
Of course, I was somewhere between 5-7 years old at the time. I thought EW&DG was the best thing ever. I thought the villains were cool--but Glitter Rock actually scared the stuffing out of me, because as a kid I hated guitars and didn't like seeing the heroes "zombified". Now I laugh at that concept.
It scares me that if I someday got Alzhiemers that might be one of the few things I'll remember. Kids remember the Sid and Marty Krofft stuff 'cause it was a lot different than standard cartoons.

Aia seems far less stressed and clueless than she did last week, so hopefully it'll go smoothly.

You and I need to start an "elderly" players clan or something.
Sorry for the Hijack folks...we now go back to the bards...

Hijack? I thought it was a legitimate visual suggestion for Magnagoran bards and I've been rewriting their skills accordingly...
Oh, Phred, has gotten me on a roll!
I've just thought of another Sid & Marty favorite that offers the PERFECT visual for the Serenwilde Bards!
