Summing it up:

Bards will have Music, along with specializations per org:

Celest gets Starhym
Glomdoring gets Shadowbeat,
Magnagora gets Necroscream
Serenwilde gets Wildarrane

Second skill is Acrobatics. (?)

Third skill is either hunting/ecology or illusions, apparently.

I bet I can guess what the music types will be.

Celest will probably be classical and really old stuff because they were around for the longest

Glomdoring will maybe get dark gothic music

Magnagora will be hard rock

Serenwilde will be calm, peaceful music.

Ha, no.

Celest:

Raising his voice in a deafening cacophony, Shamarah screams 'O RLY?' in your ear.
You envision a wide-eyed snowy owl in your dimming vision, before you expire pitifully.

It would be more effective if I saw Shamarah first. biggrin.gif tongue.gif

I'm sorry but Ecology versus Illusions? Surely you jest. Ecology is vastly better. Illusions is filled with skills that DO NOTHING in combat like changeself, magic mouth, spook, script, sparkles, wall, fireworks, etc.

Most of Ecology is fetish, smudges, and charms... not to mention Transmigrate.

Imagine: Bard with transmigrate versus Bard with illusionary manse? How... bleh?

I heard that you get to choose between Illusions and a really nice city only skillset. However, I personally think said other skillset is just blanketly better than Illusions for combat and utility. My opinion of course.

But I never liked the Illusions skillset much - I always found it quite weak compared to others.

Exactly why I expect all commune bards to have ecology, and all city bards to have .

Illusions will be for the bards who want to, you know, RP and be able to use illusions for performances.
Unknown2006-10-08 01:34:31
And also, it seems that Artisans have gotten alot more important.

Reflections are good in Illusions, and, and... ermm.gif
Shamarah2006-10-08 01:36:26
Illusions could be useful if the bards are a balance-based affliction class. We'll see.

Just so you know, Serenwilde is the oldest org... its the fuddy duddy. But yeah, probably right other than that.

How it 'hippie' music a genre? You mean the bards will have to get high before they can play their instruments?

'You must be stoned to play this song'

My, turn my head for a minute and suddenly lots of speculation!

All bards get the skillchoice of Illusions OR...

Commune bards follow more of a celtic pattern of true druid-type bards and thus we give them the choice to take hunting/ecology.

City bards follow more of a gypsy pattern and get the choice to take tarot.

I won't argue that hunting/ecology is a better choice for a combatant than hunting/ecology but really not everyone is a combatant. Those who take illusions (I imagine) are more interested in entertaining.

But needless to say, nothing is as it seems. We have plans in the pipeline to revampe illusions and break it out into two specializations:
1) Glamour which will be bards-only and follow more of the spectacle theme.
2) Phantasms which will be mages-only and be more of the phantasm-type mind illusions.

Sorry to intrude... continue your speculation....
