Hmm, I thought a cantor was any religious singer... didn't know it was so specific. In that case... Cantors with HighMagick Rock!
Unknown2006-10-29 03:22:51
Cantor can mean several things...

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Cantor
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Cantus
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Cantor_%28church%29
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Hazzan

The Cantus one is kinda funny--sounds like Arix's type of singing group...

How is the bards' bashing compared to a Guardian without their symbol?
Gandal2006-10-29 13:08:37
Hrm, now I'm pondering whether to move my faeling influencing paladin alt (I came for Populus and Laetitia and the balance, but the STR sucks) to Cantors or to reincarnate into human or something and start bashing or just stay. Any opinions?

Oh, and I believe bards' bashing is faster. Not sure, though.

Comparing my druid with a bard that has one less intelligence and an 85% instrument, the damage was somewhere between my nature curse and cudgel with a slightly faster eq.

I wish dodging worked on mobs. sad.gif Hunting huuurtts.
Ialie2006-10-29 16:51:15
hunting is hard on us. I remember being able to link 5 virgins at a time. Now I can barely do two.

Shorlen2006-10-29 17:11:28
Dodging doesn't work on mobs, so is there any reason not to bash with greatrobes on?
Soll2006-10-29 17:43:26
Thing is, we really don't have any protection other than our armour.

Does barkskin/stoneskin/draconis really matter that much?
Shryke2006-10-29 18:27:40
10% or so, at least for barkskin.
Sylphas2006-10-29 18:52:18
Yeah, the answer to that is yes. Moondancers get Drawdown and Barkskin, Druids get Barkskin and Stagform (health regen, at least). Serenguard get Drawdown/Stagform and the rest of the tanky warrior package. Spiritsingers just don't compare.

Druids get barkskin and medicinebag - stagform health regen isn't worth mentioning, nor is it worth the 10p tongue.gif

But yeah, I see your point =\\
Kharaen2006-10-29 19:30:12
Leather is very cheap. Just keep a set of greatrobes when you hunt, switching to leather when you pk. A couple aliases or triggers would make switching pretty easy to do.
Soll2006-10-29 19:33:14
Sure, but greatrobes aren't -that- superior to leathers to make up for all of the other defences. Note that mages/guardians/wiccans/druids can wear Greatrobes all of the time, as well as have other defences. Saying that Bards can switch to greatrobes from leathers when hunting just, then, doesn't stand up.

I think Ialie's point also compounds it. It really is painful as a Bard to hunt. sad.gif

(But I still love being one!)
Sylphas2006-10-29 19:56:42
I'd be happy as a bard if I never hunted again, but it's still something to consider. Do we know if Elasticity helps at all, or is that just wounding? It would be nice if Dodging worked on mobs; it's not nearly as reliable as simple damage reduction, since you may or may not die to one big hit you didn't doge, whereas armor, you know what you're going to be hit for, approximately, but over time it amounts to the same thing.

Does changing from Guardian to Bard cause a large loss of lessons? unsure.gif

Yes, Music is in Performance and Acrobatics is in Fitness.
