I suppose they will be like this. And keyboards dont exist in lusternia. A drummer would make deep noises so he would either shatter/break bones. A stringed instrument, like a violin, would maybe cause effects like Dementia, passiveness, and such. Wood blown and flutes will maybe allow you to possess some people for an amount of time.

There's a piano in Chateau d'Amour. Lutes should give sleepy things, mandolins-impatience? Violas should be deafness, blindness, anorexia, dizziness, paralysis, vapours, and blackout - I play the violin, don't want to list the viola jokes I've collected ninja.gif

Please no more of this. If Bards were so simple and one dimensional as this, it'd be an extremely horrible and boring class. Stop thinking so simplistically.

I feel so torn it's not evern a little funny.

TORN!

On the one hand... I love the aquamancers. Noola loves the aquamancers.

On the other hand... Noola wants to perform. (I've been working on three different performance projects off an on for a while - a reinactment of the Cosmosgenisis using illusions, a one-person play with Dramatics and the presentation part of my Major requirement - they're all half-way done cause I keep getting interrpted to do other things!) So being a Bard seems perfect, especially if Illusions is going to be specialized like Estarrra said... And noola loves to play with illusions.

TORN!

But I tell you what... I LOVE how much work and awesomenes the Admin put into this game! Thanks guys and gals! wub.gif

Yay for Artisans being important!

Hey, type "design patterns artisan" and see what new patterns for instruments there are!

CODE

9.2.5 THE MUSIC SKILL (Prime-Bard)

Not only do musicians train to create perfect musical interval, but they
infuse their sounds which vibrations of the Great Song, the ancient sounds
used by the Elder Gods for creation (and destruction). Most important is
to find an instrument of quality to which they can bond, and as soon as a
bard plays their instrument, it creates an immediate bond. The more an
instrument is played, the better the individual musician can play it.

9.3.13 THE ACROBATICS SKILL (Secondary)

Those who use Acrobatics cannot wear any armour heavier than leather;
however, they train themselves in a variety of skills that enable them to
train their muscles and reflexes to such a degree that they can reduce
damage and completely avoid attacks. While this is mostly a defensive
skill, its effectiveness should not to be easily discounted.

> help shadowbeat
9.2.5.1 THE SHADOWBEAT SPECIALIZATION (Music)

The Shadowbeat song style was first designed by the founder of the
_______ Guild, Nirrti, along with the help of Mahalla, the Dead Voice of
an Elder Goddess who was consumed during the Elder Wars. Shadowbeat music
is both melancholy and powerfully rhythmic, creating a unique musical
style.

The other specializations haven't been written about yet.

so.. I wonder if Bards are going to be unable to wear Greatrobes? Seems like they'd get in the way of being all acrobatic-y.

Well, druids are supposed to be able to only wear leather, I think, but I wear robes...Robes are probably just considered clothing, I think? I don't know, I'm still kinda new at this.

What little Ive heard makes the whole thing sounds really interesting, more so than Achaea and Imperion Bards.
Unknown2006-10-08 03:23:20
Since they mentioned shadowbeat as a "style", I wonder if there will be some uniqueness to the guilds, either like Totems, or maybe a different affliction based on style, sort of like how astrology's different based on birthdate.

What would be the point of specializations if they weren't different?
Unknown2006-10-08 03:27:08
Also a small point I just realised. Faeleaf will be much more useful now cause if bards use music, and you view everything without vision or sound, well they're defeated aren't they.

They'll have a way to strip deafness, I'm sure.
Noola2006-10-08 03:31:39
Maybe I'll have an alt... But no... I can't devote two character's worth of time...

What to doooooooooo
Sylphas2006-10-08 03:46:29
I really shouldn't spend anything on credits. And I hate to guildhop again. But this sounds AWESOME. *torn*
Acrune2006-10-08 03:49:15
Why do I suspect that in a month, 75% of the game's population will be bards? tongue.gif Unless the guilds suck, in that case Celest's bards will have 4 members in it because they've learned what the guild is like through alts laugh.gif

Bards don't get Nature, so they don't get Alchemy, so Selthar is entirely uninterested, regardless of the fact that the Acrobatics "nyah nyah you can't touch me" defensive thing is totally more (my imagined concept of) his fighting style than Moondancer combat is.
