Back to Common Grounds.

Me too biggrin.gif , but it would seem to be more complicated to mass-produce then the other instruments available to lusternians.
Richter2006-10-08 07:57:25
I tried to get Them to make me a violin in closed beta, so... if I can ever get one, I'm just getting one for myself to play around with...

Actually, I guess I'll do that right now.

Also, yes, I'm going to be one of those bad, bad people who check it out on an alt, heh. I think Richter is a warrior for life.

Nice name, Nirrti!

Oh, whew, good, spent some time being neurotic over that. I'm really medicated right now, and for some reason, it's much easier to come up with puns than real names. (The Darkcadents! The Dischordians! The Wyrdharmonic!)

The skills seem really original and complicated and incredibly neat, but my poor brain can't process them at 4 am. tongue.gif Tomorrow's another day, though!

Well you've got a hundred or so people who wish they were in your shoes right now so they could test out the skills. tongue.gif

I'm most intrigued by what Estarra said about Bards being able to support other guilds well.
Unknown2006-10-08 08:22:28
From what i've been shown, Bards are heeeavily support. If you want to be a loner, do noooot be a Bard, cause most of your specialized skills will be useless.
Shryke2006-10-08 08:36:03
It seems like a bard would have trouble mounting a good offense without having someone else there to work on them, from what I can tell their main offense is shut down pretty easily... Maybe I'm missing something.. Like balance recovery of blank note, but I doubt it, the stun isn't even that bad...

(Love how I was vague enough that you don't really know what I'm talking about)
Verithrax2006-10-08 09:18:50
I love you, Estarra.

In an entirely platonic, manly way. *cough*

But yeah, I love you. Love love love. Pity I couldn't bee here to see that.

GUILDHOPPPING TIME, BITCHES!

Just realize, Verithrax, most of your Necroscream skills are going to revolve around beefing up Nihilists, Geomancers, and Ur'guard.
Verithrax2006-10-08 10:00:18
Er, all I use in Geomancy, ever, is my bashing skill. I rarely fight, and I really like illusions.

Additionally, city bards can pick Tarot, so I wouldn't call their solo offense bad right now - We've still seen very few bards in action, and nobody knows how to fight as one right now.

Besides, the only arechetype with a primary skill that isn't useless by itself are warriors.

Oh, no, Music alone has great skills. Its just that most of the rhythms in the specialization are about helping groups.

Though, also, your bashing skill is going to suck in the beginning. The insturment needed to use it alone costs about 10k, and then the damage is based on your aptitude with the insturment.. which starts at 1%

So, you have to have a lot of patience from the look of things.

QUOTE(Fallen @ Oct 7 2006, 06:58 PM) 340197

I hope Acrobatics has Evade.. I love that from Achaea, since it lets you move into rooms with totems without activating them.
Nice name, Nirrti!

This was changed in Imperian, and I believe in all the realms once the they redid all the movement code across all the IRE games. In Imperian evade doesn't bypass totems or walls anymore. Saboteurs (Snake equivalent) can still phase to get past them (though unphasing on a totem will cause it to fire), and Idras can avert their eyes while wearing their mask by pulling it up and not peering over the top or some such, and avoid totems, but that has the penalty of not being able to see what's in a room, or the exits at all.

Given that you have to actually write your own lyrics to songs.. I really fear for what some of these people are going to produce, heh.

Is that supposed to be some kind of Rap or Scat song?

Can you explain how this works? I'm just curious about this. It sounds like there might be a lot more creativity involved for this guild.

Also, I wonder if Bards have any way of affecting the culture mechanic, or any effects on influencing, considering it's an "art". It would make the guild be a little more open to more "peaceful" types, but also allowing singing warrriors as well.
Soll2006-10-08 12:07:03
I can't wait to find out how all of this works. Squeeee. wub.gif music.

Glomdoring bards will just copy and paste their lyrics from Linkin Park's website.

I, personally, will rip off all my songs from The Rocky Horror Picture Show.

You create songs, each song is composed of up to 9 stanzas, and each stanza can be imbued with a single power. Then you sing the song to go through the stanzas, which more powerful abilities needing a higher stanza count. So you have to write the lines of the song, since they require lrics.

QUOTE
The viola is crafted from rich mahogany, lacquered to a shine. The strings are made from thin, tightly coiled lengths of silk.
It has 116 months of usefulness left.
It weighs about 3 pounds and 12 ounce(s).
It bears the distinctive mark of Keeper of the Sacred Grove, Saran, Ays Civalior Lyreth.
This instrument has never been played by a trained musician.

It will be so tempting to switch guilds when Serenwilde gets their bards. *locks up the guildhopping pants*
Unknown2006-10-08 12:48:42
Oooh. blink.gif

You mean like this (hypothetical)...

QUOTE

Forest of Darkness, Blind my Foes (blindness)
Freeze them all from Heads to Toes (freeze)
Slow them down with Mental Drain (confusion)
Wrack their body, cause them Pain (physical damage)
I invoke thee, Viravain (puts up a protection shield)

I wonder if there will be a market for outside songwriters to assist the bards. After all, famous singers don't always create their own songs.

Who approves new songs--the guild?

Also, does this mean we can now have a sing emote that seperates stanzas?! I always wanted that just to sing a song, and it now makes more sense to have that.
