Most likely(I never liked it). offtopic.gif However, for GCSE study its not like we had a big choice is it? I mean we had to choose Geography to learn about GMT because all the other subjects didn't touch the subject because they weren't meant to!

Um..no. You should know what time zone you live in.

I know what time zone i live in. Its just all this talk about GMT and stuff which is over complicated. I didn't expect everybody to be bureaucratic

For you ship owners, maybe we can convince Roark to have aethermobs leave 30% more glaetherial dust when they die this weekend too.......

Would be more useful to have the gnomes produce 30% faster at there trade ships.

I do love the aethertrade feature -- most exciting part of the game yet, as far as I'm conerned, but the gnomes are already being traded with as fast as they can produce. More dust in the economy would just mean what little goods are available would... cost more dust.

There is only one thing we can do to show our appreaciation for all this! Well.. Unless we start hugging all the divine.

VOTE, VOTE, VOTE! Vote Lusternia!

Agreed. The gnomish economy is no longer even worth exploiting sad.gif It's still just as fun, but there's no profit anymore. Four hours of trading for 4,000 gold per person? That's really.... not much. A hour of influencing gets 5,000 to 10,000, a single village honours quest (which takes 1-10 minutes, but can't be done too often) gets 5,000. Increasing the dust drop rate wouldn't do a thing for the profit, since getting dust is trivial, finding places to get something for it isn't.

It is so! And if you're looking for proof, 2 words: Tony Blair. sleep.gif evil of all evils he is(except George Bush but we're not counting wa***rs are we).

Firstly:

Our schooling system hasn't been crawling out of the sewer as you put it. Instead, it's slowly sliding into it.

Secondly:

It nevertheless maintains comparably high standards.

So ssh. We Brits need to stand together and imply that everything in which we are involved is golden. Meanwhile, the US is the cess pool of the world. Else Xavius gets too big for his little cowboy booties.
Sylphas2006-10-25 18:25:54
Don't make me defend us. It's so very hard sometimes, and I don't feel like having to make the effort. Keep your overinflated British egos to yourselves.

It's hard. Even if they do tell you the time, they tell you in EST, not EDT. Also, HELP GMT just says Eastern US -5, though it's -4 during the summer. So, it is in fact pretty hard sad.gif.
Noola2006-10-25 20:49:05
This is the best timezone converter I've found. I'm horrid at converting timezones too.

I've got three different timezone maps in my cubicle and I STILL manage to forget and try to call people in Arizona before their office even opens. doh.gif

Anyway, here's the link: Time Zone Converter

It even automatically factors in Daylight Savings Time if it's aplicable.

Hope that helps! biggrin.gif

Yup. Not as much as would be nice, but an hour or two every other day, with luck.

Just so you know, when we go to school, and are taught English from the time we are in Anuban (Kindergarde 1,2, and 3) and P 1-6 and M1-6, and into University, oh, and if you want a good job, you have to have decent English skills... We learn English, not American.

Don't bomb on your own homeland, that is just not cool. When the rest of the world has to bow to your language from the time they can walk, hold your head up a little higher Calico.

This is totally off topic (so feel free to moderate me even if I am a god; I don't mind), but nonetheless this tangent reminds me of something funny (and sad) I heard on the radio a couple days ago. A survey of American kids and Korean kids (dunno if they were Koreans in Korea or Korean immigrants) asked them if they do very well on math on a regular basis. Something like 1/3 of the Americans said yes and less than 10% of the Korean kids said yes. Yet on the standardized math tests, the Koreans smoked the Americans in math, opposite of the way the kids actually viewed themselves. Thus the conclusion was that the government schools are currently teaching you to feel good about yourself instead of teaching actual math. sad.gif
Simimi2006-10-26 01:06:08
Yes Roark, We have had similiar tests between certain provinces back home... and I think your right about the teaching people to be happy about themselves.

I get mad when I get a B on something.... and all my friends get C's. They all say "Aww I am so much better than that! The teacher just does not like me!" and I say, "Wow I only got a B, I did not work hard enough apparently!"

Think it just points to a cultural difference. But it is cool that someone noticed.

Love, mimi
Karnagan2006-10-26 01:07:14
Roark:

Is it a school promoting self-confidence in math? Is it the math curriculum being that much easier? Or is it a student self-perception problem: many, many Americans regard +80% as being "very good." By contrast, anything short of 100% may be considered a failure in the eyes of some Asian parents and their family. Believe me, being Sri Lankan I know. biggrin.gif
