Okay, I'm a lvl 69 Aqua with staff (not trans), up to secondsight in Psionics, and up to Astral in planar (so I can't go up there by myself). I've tried out gorgogs and krokani, and krokani are nice but bashed out and gorgogs are sometimes bashed out or sometimes occupied by someone else (I scurry out right about then). Anything to get gold? I spent 62500 gold on the city credit sale and I have 8000 or so left...

Best places for gold is prime and catacumbs.
Catacumbs will be too hard for you most likely.
Best gold on prime is in:
Shallach:
Orcs (can be sold) and even better ur'deads, but killing ur'deads will make you enemy in Shallach and Magnagora wont be friendly to you if they catch you there.
Arysian Islands:
Hammerhead sharks (need to dive) but gold is really nice, and they do not break shields, just arms and legs.
Gorgogs and merians (both can be sold) nice gold, but killing merians as you know isnt tolerated in Celest.
Parts of honor quest. This quest can get you 2k and more.
Grey Moors:
Krokanis you selling to Aslarans and Aslrans to Krokanis. Few of them are worth nice gold. And Surtami sometimes can give you 3k gold.
Pilgrims and scholars:
You can get up to 2k per trip if you have luck.
Supplicants and spectres:
Very nice gold too.
Comms quests:
People do not know how good gold they often are.
Chickens (dead or alive) , cows (dead or alive), deers (dead), rockeater (dead), trouts (dead), sheeps (alive). From 30-80hp per one. So if you do it fast then you can get nice gold.
Just one run around mountians when looking for scholars could get you around 1k from rockeaters alone.
There is a lot of those comms quests and often waiting for you. not many people doing them in those days.
Honors quests:
Its good place to earn gold too, some quests are easy but less gold like Rockeater quest when other require some more time but prize is better too up to 5k.
And there is more. You just need to look.
EDIT:
And of course there are Trade skills too. But only few are good gold if not invested a lot of credits.
And influencing, begging in Tosha is good gold, or you could just kill monks, but enemied status then and Celest dotn like people killing them.
Catacumbs will be too hard for you most likely.

Hm, thanks, but I hates Celest hunting rules *mutter*...I killed an ur'dead with a reflector once and got enemied, hmmm....Where do I sell orcs? Also, do the hammerheads drop a lot of gold or do they sell for a lot of gold? Stupid Marani Veloske keeps me from going to the mountains, draining freaking power reserves...For the record, how much gold is catacombs or astral, and how do you get to catacombs?

Krangar, the Ur'Dead leader buys Orcs. You get to the Catacombs (normally) by giving Orcs to Krangar. Astral doesnt give very much gold if any at all I believe.

Hm, can I still sell if I'm enemied?
Diamondais2006-10-12 21:52:25
I dont think hed accept them, but youd have to try to be certain. I dont usually hunt things that get me enemied, so I really just cant tell you.
Forren2006-10-12 21:57:53
He won't take them if you're enemied.
At your level, do gorgogs. A lot. Make sure you have all proofings, especially fire and magic for them. Think about doing respawn lobstrosities on Cancer, too.
Shallach = godly for gold, but be careful. You -will- be jumped.

Influencing and selling esteemed items seems to be pretty good money, as long as people are buying them. You can get maybe 10-15k gold for a full item.

Are we still killing non enemied mags in Shallach??? oh wait she is a celestian, yea you'll get jumped, since we dont want you in there opening up the catacombs for your citymates, I keep forgetting how celest used to sometimes use unenemied people to get them into places.
Gandal2006-10-12 22:43:17
The *male* Gandal is Celestian and enemied to Nil, Magnagora, and Shallach. Yay Nil raids!

They drop around 200 gold a pop, and they can be sold to the Merian fishmonger for 75 gold.
If I need gold, I generally just go hunting.
You can get an easy 3k off doing the first part of the Hand quests (1500 for 20 gilas, 1500 for 20 sandojin). If you don't want to raise the statue (some people are oposed to new cities), you don't have to finish the quest, just hand in the corpses.
I like doing Scholars/Rockeaters when hunting the mountains. There's usually 10 scholars, so that's 1k, 5% karma, and 10 power. Usually 20 rockeaters, so that's another 1k.
I also like Rustling/Peddlers when walking the roads.
Usually 20-25 cows, so around 2500 gold.
Lots of pilgrims, up to 30 I think. So another 3000 gold, and a ton of karma.
Begging in friendly places is good, like Estelbar, Tosha, and the Dracnari Nomad Camp.
All Cities and Communes have things you can do for good gold.
Spectre quest for power in Magnagora.
Oozes, and empowering Fae, in Glomdoring.
Pixies, and empowering Fae, in Serenwilde.
I've no idea what Celest does for gold.
And of course there's Rats and Weevils.
Acrune2006-10-13 05:34:58
I used to hit up Bondero Bay all the time. Between the gorgogs, hammerheads, and quest items, you could get a lot of gold, experience, and karma pretty fast. If you're merian, be very careful, but you should be able to hunt both if you pay attention to shield when you're against multiple hammerheads, and reflect yourself or run from gorgogs if you need to after their powerful attack. Don't bother with astral until you get forcefield if you're merian, I still died too much as a level 86 merian without it.

Celest has the GODLY supplicants quest. Welll, Godly at low levels anyway. Often taken, but when you can do it, DO IT. Fun and gives about 700-1000 gold a round.
Acrune2006-10-13 16:08:06
700 is max a round, but yeah, its nice, especially if you need karma fast.

There's a few commodity quests, that is, quests that raise commodities in a village and the Commune/City that's protecting it.
Slain chickens turned into a village raises meat. (Butchery)
Live chickens turned into a village raises eggs. (Chicken Coop)
Slain cows can be leather, or meat, depending on who you give them to. (Tannery, Butchery)
Slain deer, and bucks, bring in leather (Tannery)
Live cows bring in milk. (Dairy farm)
Live sheep bring in cloth. (Textile)
Dead sheep bring in meat. (Butchery)
Spinarettes (from widows in Glomdoring, spiders in Angkrag and Dairuchi) bring in silk. (Textile, Commodity shop)
Raw coal, or any raw metal, brings in the refined version of the same. (Commodity store, Forge, Goldstore)
Rockeaters bring in gems. (Jeweler, Commodity store)
Lumber brings in wood (Lumber yard)
Each village has at least a few of these types of stores where you can turn in the corpses/livestock/items.
I'm pretty sure there's a jeweler in almost every village, so it shouldn't be hard to turn in the rockeaters, no matter what Commune/City you're a part of.

Best thing to do is just time the spawns when you do manage to find them up. Or you can do astral circuits if you have the spheres timed. The key in making gold is gold/minute, not where you can get the most.
A lot of people say catacombs is the best gold, but they're wrong. It's the best gold in that there are the most mobs there - 50 or so - and thus, at the end of a run, you'll likely have made 15k or so. However, these creatures are dangerous and take a while to kill, not to mention often are found in big groups. It can take me upwards of an hour to finish catacombs, for 15k. Gorgogs + hammerhead shark (hands down the best gold/minute) combo can net about 8-12k, in about 15 minutes.
Here's what I like to do (there is a specific time when to start to ensure astral links):
1. Gorgogs and hammerheads. (note time for respawns) Check krokani, bash if up.
2. Astral, killing only unlinked creatures. At points, you need to wait a minute or two for a sphere to connect - at that time you can link. But, if you have the timing right you can go cancer, scorpio, leo, aries, back to aquarius, then gemini and down.
3. Shallach ur'dead.
4. Catacombs until time on gorgog respawns is up.
5. Rinse, repeat till out of willpower/endurance.
Using this, I can make around 30k an hour, plus good exp and a ton of karma. Argilent, who taught me a bit on astral timing, says his best doing a similar circuit was 52k an hour.
Anyways, the point is...it's all about timing spawns and the essential gold/minute.
