Just had a spar, versus a geomancer with a dagger.
Every single stab was stupidity or paralysis. She managed to completely kill my demesne with me showing little to no resistance because I was paralysed half the time.
What in the world am I supposed to do to stop that damn thing? It follows -EVERYWHERE-, nature flow, trees, arghh.

Its only got like a 4 room range at trans, I believe. Get out of that range, and it'll drop.
Also, get a Disruption scroll.

Trans discipline and trans resilience. I know daggers are annoying, but their effectiveness is much much less with these two skills. Also - you can read protection scrolls at the person to get them to unlock the dagger channels.

I really hate that these two trans skills are a requirement for fighting a TK Sure, daggers are balanced at omnitrans - so were hexes, and hexes were nerfed because not everyone is omnitrans A decrease in focusbody time for inept discipline would be fine and not unbalance anything...

How effective is this actually? Disruption scrolls take a four second balance. If you keep reading one at them the moment they lock the channel, they still are hitting you with two other effects while you're doing nothing more than reading the scroll. You're doing nothing, they're still attacking.
So, you are sacrificing your entire offense to negate ONE THIRD of the psion's. I really think disruption scrolls could use an upgrade, unless I'm misunderstanding what's so great about them.
EDIT: On an alt, I was fighting someone who just spammed dual paralyse daggers. My alt has apprentice discipline, since I don't have credits to spend on him. I could act about once every 20 to 30 seconds, and my action was to read a disruption scroll. It didn't hinder him in the slightest. He might have been deaf though, I hear deafness completely negates disruption scrolls entirely.

You need tumble to fight a guardian. You need shieldparry and trans resilience to fight a warrior. You need gedulah/green to fight a slitlocking warrior. You need trans discipline to fight a telek using manta daggers, and realitycheck to fight a mage if you're a mage/druid. You need metawake to fight a wiccan. You need climb to fight a druid, and chop to fight a druid if you're a mage.
So, hey, whatever.
Also, melancholic was changed not because of the focus mind requirement to escape a lock but because hexes were able to do a lock in a single attack.

You don't NEED trans resilience to fight a warrior - the others are true. There is a big difference between gifted skills (289 lessons) and trans skills (1715 lessons) is my point - no class should require a trans skill to fight them - gifted/expert ones are fine though, if you ask me.
The above is my personal opinion, of course.

You don't need climb to fight a druid unless you're going to die to cudgels. If you're going to die to cudgels, you haven't aliased shield, so...you're going to die anyways. So yeah, not so much. You need cleanse and ignite enchants.

You need climb to fight a druid if you don't want the druid to become instantly immune to you by typing "swing up".

In many situations though, you can fly/land trees Takes balance though to fly...
Shamarah2006-10-16 10:52:11
Except fly is on a 4 second balance and most people can't do it...

All gloms/serens can climb trees, all non-lowmagic using warriors can use hexagram, and all low-magic using warriors can use geyser. Twirl cudgel is only a 50% defence. You don't NEED climb, as far as I've seen...
Unknown2006-10-16 11:31:44
Isn't geyser enchantable?
Ildaudid2006-10-16 12:03:49
You're sayin trans discipline because of how it lowers time for focus mind/body right???
Sylphas2006-10-16 12:34:45
Yes.

Inept discipline = 4.5 second focusbody. Trans = 1.5 second. Daggers hit every 8 seconds, I think. You can have two daggers. Do the math

One channel is faster than the other, so is it 6 and 4, or 8 and 6? Can't remember.
Unknown2006-10-16 13:24:05
4 and 6, I believe.

So, assuming TRANS discipline, you're disabled about... half the time? Passively? With only fabled discipline, you are disabled for 5/6ths of the time. Any less, and it's 100%.

Except hexagram and geyser are barely worthwhile in getting someone out of the trees.
Every fight I've had, even if my opponent doesn't have levitate and breaks both limbs when I hex them, they'll regain balance before I regain equilibrium and swing back up.
So that doesn't work.
I need a personal brumetower, me thinks.
