To clarify, the treaty bugs the hell out of me as well. More people voted against the proposed treaty, than voted against the INITIIAL referendum, yet the Circle still went ahead with it. Bizarre.

We didn't go ahead with it, it wasn't anything Celest knew about and the law doesn't even apply to Celest since we're at war with them. Its just not the same thing.

They didn't just go ahead with anything, because as far as I know, I'm the one who suggested the wording and fought for it on SEG for an hour or so after Anarias mentioned something similar.

I'll grant that, if Celest chooses to end the war right now, it'd amount to the same thing, probably. But if that's all you get from the law, you're missing a good deal of it. Maybe we should add a clause that says, "This doesn't apply to Celest at all, we'll figure out something else for them."

I'd love for Magnagora to throw up an equivalent law, publically, and then shame Celest for attacking without provocation. I'd be more than willing to assist Magnagora's defence if they declared a ceasefire against Celestian interests, and I wouldn't be surprised if others followed.

Use their tactics against them, so to speak.

While it would be funny to see, as a player, it wouldn't do anything, since New Celest has always and will always be at war with Mag.

Not sure what that would really do. One side can't really come out and say neither side is going to attack the other anymore. huh.gif

I know this was a long time ago, but just for clarification...

Dude, really, stop insulting people sad.gif

Um...I suppose that sounded a bit like an insult, but it wasn't intended toward anyone. I actually have a lot of respect for the current members of the Circle, I just think they made a mistake here. My point was just that it is dangerous to plan that all future members of the circle will always be honorable.

Sorry for any misunderstanding there!
Sylphas2006-10-16 15:50:37
Future members of the Circle can do whatever they want, really. They don't have to do referendums and limit themselves to the leaves. If we really do vote in total assholes, they could do a lot worse without us having any say, with or without this law.
