Um, so what's your point? Can I not shoot someone with my cudgel, because IRL I could also shoot a gun, which is OOC?
Yea for faulty anologies You don't call your cudgel a gun when you talk about it OOC, do you? I certainly call something coming to me from a MUD a "line" of text when I talk about it OOC.
Sylphas2006-10-15 20:39:24
It's not faulty. Songs have lines. Talking about the lines of a song isn't OOC in the least. MUDs have lines too, but there's not even any amibiguity, though, since my character doesn't know what a MUD is.

If you wanted to sing normally, you can use emotes. PERFORM SONG is mainly to allow songs to also have combat capability.
Sylphas2006-10-15 22:27:19
If I want to sing normally, I'll use illusions, emotes cost me 100 gold each time and can't have line breaks.
Shamarah2006-10-15 22:35:58
Since when do emotes cost gold?

He means to change his title and change it back. He should have said 200 though.
Shamarah2006-10-15 22:40:00
Why do you need to change your title to emote?
Sylphas2006-10-15 22:52:49
Because if you have most any title it looks ridiculous. The only reason emotes show titles is stop people using them as illusions.

Musical 'masurements' (pun intended... music people will get it, everyone else, learn music!)
Beat: One unit of time as written in the time signature.
Measure: A single set of 'beats.' How long a measure is is described in the time signature.
Bar: One 'line' of musical notation. (Also known as Line.)
Phrase: A short, sometimes multiple measure, series of notations.
Stanza: One or more Bars of music, comprised of several phrases.
Perhaps phrase would be a better idea then Stanza... but oh well.

Bar would be better, though not entirely accurate...

I suppose. Also, it would be very possible to just make your 'lyrics' a bunch of affliction lines.
So force a prefix, and people can use anchors.
CODE
1234h, 1234m, 1234e, 10p, 5678en, 5678w elrxk- sing There's a lady who's sure/all that glitters is gold/And she's buying a stairway to heaven.
With a few plucks from a fine silver lute, Gwylifar llyrFarathan sings:
-=- There's a lady who's sure              -=-
-=- all that glitters is gold              -=-
-=- And she's buying a stairway to heaven. -=-
Easy peasy for the coders to code; easier peasier for people to ensure their systems aren't fooled by. And the same could be used for poems if you added a RECITE synonym which simply used a different introduction string.

I've never seen any of those used when talking about lyrics seperate from the musical notation. We don't have musical notation in Lusternia; you can write lyrics but not the accompanying music. Using measures or bars would be very odd. I still see absolutely no problem with line, and I'm very confused by anyone who does.

From a sign in a a music shop in Denmark Street, London:
QUOTE
Anyone who uses the instruments here to play 'Stairway To Heaven', 'Paranoid' or 'Smoke On The Water' should seriously consider whether they have a future in rock and roll.

Title-less ftw.
Sylphas2006-10-16 12:06:46
Hartstone requires titles.
Shamarah2006-10-16 19:56:59
So do Celestines, I just never let anyone give me one.
Sylphas2006-10-16 20:56:10
That works if you can title yourself and/or have enough standing to tell them to screw off, but a lot of people can't and/or don't.
