There are a few changes I'd make to psionics, but I'd say it's pretty near balanced. It's so easy to run from heartburst, it's not even funny.

Telekinetic barrier + Vessels, does not easy to run from make glare.gif

You can't do both at the same time. They each use the substratus channel.

Tarot is pretty nasty if you get the jump on someone, not sure if you can kill with JUST tarot and no other skills, but I also do not think you can really kill someone with JUST psionics and NO other skills. Maybe I am misunderstanding your post...

Telekinetics moreso than telepaths, especially if they're using a pair of Mantakaya daggers. Seems to me from another thread that even at trans discipline, you end up spending a lot of time paralysed.

Gust the mage. As long as you're not already locked into place, it seems to be the easiest thing to do.

At trans discipline, mantakaya is ignorable. 1.5 sec focus time, when it hits once every 4 seconds and once every 6 seconds, AND a 33% chance to shrug off every venom hit.
This venom is pretty weak on high-skilled people and definately too powerful on low-skilled. As I've written already - the solution would be to make focus body time less dependant on Discipline rank, but it's not a problem with psionics, it's a problem with discipline.

Druidic twirl gives a 50% change to resist hexagram/geyser. That's quite amazing. The geo one is the only worthless one.

Don't forget that's a 50% resist in the trees only, doesn't work for flyers
Tiran2006-10-17 22:43:12
Er.. Don't you need trans resilience for the shrugging? That makes it a lot better too. Without the shrugging, It's still rather messed up:

0s - both daggers hit
1.5s - unparalized
4s - dagger 1 hits
5.5s - unparalized
6s - dagger 2 hits
7.5s - unparalized
8s - dagger 1 hits
9.5s - unparalized
12s - both daggers hit

So you're still paralyzed 6s/12s without shrugging. Enough to do other things at least. Add 33% shrugging in, and you're averaging 4.3s/12s paralysis, which is really weak, I agree. But both of these situations need trans skills to get. Improve discipline yes, very much so.

What's the focus time at inept, and I assume it scales linearly based on lessons spent rather than on skill rank. Maybe that's research for the mythbuster thread.

4.5 seconds.

The power draining in the arena needs to be addressed, I think. Would it be better to just add some sort of passive power generation in the arena?

Ha! A power node! That we can fight over king of the hill style!
Trakis2006-10-20 18:11:44
Maybe if there was a new wargame where you start off with 30 power (for defenses and stuff), and then have to spend the rest of the time fighting over power nodes? That would be very interesting.

At the same time, though, I'm concerned about power draining in free for alls as it is possible currently, which is why I suggested some kind of power generation.
