No! That's what magic users feel with their lack of constitution. It's a tradeoff. Good strength, con, and resistances? You have to pay for it somewhere.

Yes, and I don't say that Orclach should have Int even at 12: ten would be fine. The second you go Orclach, you accept that any magic-wielding class is completely worthless to you. You also acknowledge that there is simply no point to learning any Influence: and considering how important this is in village revolts, you forfeit most of your usefulness to the city in a critical area. Humans, Merians, Taurians, Aslarans, Dracnari: all warrior races without these gigantic penalties. I'd go so far as to say that's the reason there are so many more of these races compared to Krokani, Orclach, and Brood Viscanti (though Viscanti in general have to put up with a hideous sip penalty on top of the removed surge). By contrast, no race besides Faeling and Mugwump have below 11 Con: and both of these races have considerable popularity compared to Orclach and Krokani.

Pay for our advantages? Sure. And I'll be playing Orclach either way. But would we really like some love? Yup.

Dracnari have a sip penalty and lvl 3 cold weakness and low charisma, I believe. Also low dex. Merians lords are fine, yes, but still the fire weaknesses and the electricity weaknesses. Rest, I agree. Dracnari should get -1 con and lvl 1 sip penalty or something.

but the fire and electricity weaknesses are realistic to the merians characteristics, after all the race IS a fish tongue.gif

That's what I was thinking when I read the topic. biggrin.gif

Personally, I think gnomes need to be released as a playable race.
Unknown2006-10-30 04:25:51
Speaking of gnomes... what's their history, who was their elder god, etc.? huh.gif

I always wanted to ask that question.
Gandal2006-11-02 02:14:03
They're old as the Fates themselves, a great enigma to the rest of the world. Perhaps...
Genevieve2006-12-02 16:00:49
I'd really like to know: I'm a 74th circle human. Should I reincarnate into an Imperial merian? I'm a Celestine.
Unknown2006-12-02 16:10:10
Ugh, why did you necro an old thread?

But no. Stay human or reincarnate into a mugwump or aslaran for the eq/balance (TAROT!) bonus. Don't go for Merian at such a high level, not worth it.
Shamarah2006-12-02 16:15:29
There is no reason for a Celestine to ever be merian at any level.
Genevieve2006-12-02 16:40:28
Well, my guildmaster Alodia is a Merian. So Aslaran or Mugwump? Or stay human? Hmmm...
Richter2006-12-02 16:49:11
Wrong thread for the question, sorry.

And back on topic, I'd love to see some extra races that you could changeling into, would give even more incentive to purchase it, and some extra stuff with it. I'd love to see gnomes, finks, icelords, all kinds of things, fun things, ones that you can't select at startup.
Soll2006-12-02 16:52:09
That'd be neeat.
