transcendant trade skill 'artifacts'

I think someone (Estarra?) said once that it was fine for these items to last even if you forgot the trade skill. It's basically just an artifact (ranging from 200-300cr cost) that decays.

As such I was wondering which of these items could actually really be 'kept' and which will decay (and how much time it would take them to decay).

- Splendor Robes: To my knowledge their effect remains and you can mend robes indefinitely often.

- Transfix Gem: Well.. if this is a piece of jewelry, can it be runed to make it non-decay? Otherwise, could it be 'repaired' like jewelry? Or if there is no way to keep it from decaying, how many months does it come with?

- Philosphers Stone: See transfix gem.

- Magic Tome: Will it still affect me if I forget bookbinding? And will it become non-decay if I place for example a shield rune on it?

- Magi Crown: Well a crown is definitely a piece of jewelry and with a rune it should become non-decay, I have yet to try and find out of the effect lasts..

The rest of the trade skills have no item (correct me if I forgot something). So.. anyone out there who can clarify on some of these items? unsure.gif

Forging comes with Fullplate non decay armour with stats in the 100/100 range. Only fits the person who forged it.

Splendour Robes - Wearable even by non trans tailors, can be mended by other tailors.

Perfect Gem - Will decay, counts as a gem, so no runes can be given to make it non decay.

Philosphers Stone: See transfix gem.

Magic Tome: Can keep even without bookbinding, not runable and also heavily bugged if I recall

Magicrown: Not sure if you can use it while NOT an enchanter, but it definately is runable

Full Plate: Needs trans forging to be able to wear it

That's about the list of trans tradeskill items I think, the rest give either abilities or bonuses.

Telrath said it was still useable if you ditched the skillset.

Well I have a MagiCrown (made one just in case.. still need to repay the power to Celest before they take that as reason to enemy tongue.gif ) I really need to try that before I rune it. sleep.gif

As for the perfect gem and the philosphers stone.. how many months do they last?

EDIT: and if you can -keep- a magictome, is it still useable to you once you ditch the skillset? IE can you still do READ MAGICTOME blah blah? And will it still absorb damage?

EDIT2: And yes, I didn't list forging, because I knew already that the effects of Full Plate don't last.
Reiha2006-10-27 06:52:57
Yeah, Telrath had a magictome when he ditched the skillset. That powergamer, I miss him.

As for the gem, I think a little over a year when I probed Narsrim's before it went poof! but that could be my false memory.
Ekard2006-10-27 07:34:52
Fascinatig gem when new have around 250 months +- 10 months.
Magi crown works for non enchanters, i have one myself with great rune attached to it.

And i heard that its ok to keep trans trade items as long as you stay class that could take that skillset.
So you could still wear full plate when herbalist or poisonist but you shouldnt if you become guardian.
Similiar to Magi Crown or philosopher stone. If you class that cant take alchemy as trade skill then its not allowed for you to keep stone.

Yup. I used to have one. Left it in a shop before I buggered off, and I can't find it now. I wonder if it's decayed....
Verithrax2006-10-27 07:42:27
Walking around with all those tradeskill artifacts, regardless of having made them non-decay (If that's possible), is really, really lame and is basically just flaunting your credit-generated ePenis. Besides the transfix gem, I think you can get something that does the same as every other artifact or something similar (Runes of absorption, for example)
Ekard2006-10-27 07:48:38
You cant get anything like Magi Crown.
Unknown2006-10-27 08:01:27
So you show of your epenis too if you buy 'real' artifacts? Both cost credits, I don't see much of a difference. sleep.gif

And hm.. do MagicTome and Rune of Absorption stack? Like if you have both, and you -do- get hit it absorbs damage, but the rune also keeps you from getting hit at all sometimes?
Ashteru2006-10-27 10:26:22
Yeah, it does. (In regards to the absorption/tome question).

As for the tome, it's realy, really bugged right now. Poofed on me the first time I used it. >.<

As long as you don't take the full plate off you can still keep it and benefit from it. Vestiphobia terrifies me now tongue.gif

I thought that while you can keep it on even if you forget forging, it does not give you any protection anymore? blink.gif
Soll2006-10-27 11:33:16
It does give protection.
Ekard2006-10-27 11:39:08
And there is curse enchantment too. but im quite sure that Estarra or one of other admins said somehwere that keeping full plate when you cant have forging is no no. But im not 100% sure about that.

It is a no-no; if you can no longer have the trade skill if you switch class, you cannot have it.
Simimi2006-10-27 13:04:33
So there is NO-WAY to make a MAgicTome last forever? =(
Shorlen2006-10-27 21:48:49
So, I think you need to ditch the crown, Aesyra? Technically? Since you can't be an enchanter anymore?

Verithrax, why do you think everything that has a use in combat is about flaunting one's ePenis?
