It's been stated that you can keep trans trade skill items unless, in your current archetype you would be unable to switch back to that trade skill.
Mainly it means that Full plate, Magi Crown, Philosophers stone are the ones you need to worry about, but you could have a gem, robes, a tomb, and be a herbalist/poisonist/cook if you wanted to. (or even have one of these three others as well, as long as your archetype matches up.)

I specifically emailed back in the day and was told:
You may keep any transcendent trade skill item AS LONG AS you still possess the ability to select that tradeskill (ie. you may not wear full plate if you switch from warrior->guardian, etc). However, Magi Crowns seem to be the exception IF they have an artifact rune.
Magi Crowns were also downgraded at some point, and I assume this is why. It was a phantom nerf.

So Normally I can use trancendant trade skill artifacts such as Perfect Gemstone, Magic Tome and Magi Crowns right? After all, they are the only trade skill artifacts that are common nto all.
Soll2006-11-15 14:28:42
Enchantments isn't common to all, but you can use Gemstone/Tome/Splendors/Prize Return + Your specified trade trans skill.

So i can use my magic crown as warrior if i have great runes on it??
I was wondering about coming back to Paladins, but i had few great runes on it so i though i would need to get them first and that would made switching guild even more harmfull.
So if i can use it maybe i should think about coming back.

I thought that while you can keep it on even if you forget forging, it does not give you any protection anymore?
Of course it gives you protection, it still has stats like normal armour, those stats are just higher. There's no invisible "knock 20 points or so off of the stats" thing for when you forget the skill.

It is a no-no; if you can no longer have the trade skill if you switch class, you cannot have it.
If I switched to another skillset, I'd continue to wear my fullplate. Why? Because nowhere that I can find is it documented within the game that it's not really cool to keep using the items you got from a skill you forgot. I had my wolf long after I forgot tracking, so long in fact that when I relearned it years later, he was skill my original wolf. If they don't want me to wear my forging item after I forget forging, they need to code it in. Think of a blacksmith, we'll say Bruenor, and his dwarfish self makes a badass set of armour, he wears it, and then years later takes up another trade. Does he forget how to wear the armour, or is there a law that says "omg no armorz if you're not a smith"?

So, to anyone that's not reading this thread, an email to Narsrim is supposed to explain the situation?
It needs to be specifically stated within the helpfiles, as well as within the AB file if this is going to be official policy.

Well this is particularely stupid. We're talking about players here. How many are actually going to stick to what Narsrim posted? Not many from my experience.. if the Administration -really- wants people to drop those items they -will- have to code it. It's not going to happen otherwise.
Also, whether I am allowed to keep my crown now or not, I've put my absorption rune on it before reading all this.. so yeah, if I am supposed to drop it then I want my rune and the comms for the crown back (Besides I like the 'It bears the distinctive mark of Aesyra' line.. would hate to lose that )
And I think MagiCrowns give a 25% mana cost reduction.. Considering I have level 3 racial mana reggen and a torc.. duh, just duh..
EDIT: And yes I've not heard anything either way from the Admin and there's nothing in the help files. Honestly, I don't think it's that big of a problem to anyone there

It's not in the help files to my knowledge as well, but if I dominate you to remove splendor robes or fullplate, try putting it back on. I think it's the admin's subtle way of addressing that issue. Not to say that will prevent anyone from wearing it in the mean time, but they would have made it okay to wear again if there was no problem with this.
And you're allowed to keep your crown, since I think a lot of people would be pissed that the arti they put on it poofs! on them and such or is rendered useless.

Well I always thought it had been coded that if you wear a fullplate and forget forging you can still wear that plate put it won't protect you at all.. Is that now true or not?
Also, if you have splendor robes and forget tailoring... can you rewear those robes if removed or not?

Yes, you can.
Reiha2006-11-17 06:55:06
Ack, wrong about the robes... but as for the fullplate I'm told from a warrior you can't wear it again once it's been removed. Not sure if you still get any protection, though.
Edit: I meant once you forget the tradeskill and go guardian/mage or something.

Vestiphobia would be...annoying...

Come on! Even if there's an in-game possibility of wielding an entire arsenal of Trans Trade Items, there's no RP way of making such responsible! Then again, I'm one of those numbnuts that tries to get as far as possible without spending a single coin on OOC-Credits, so my opinion only counts half
