Except that with the imperial system, it is very easy to measure your room without a measuring tape, and to in general, know the sizes and amounts of things without actually measuring.

Thumb = inch
Foot = foot
Glass of water = 8oz
nose to fingertip = yard
1 mile = 15 minutes of walking.

And while driving, its easy to convert how many minutes it will take to get somewhere based on the distance since going 60mph, 1 mile = 1 minute, and since time is based on the whole 6 system anyways, you need to know how to do that math easily too.

But of course, education is much cheaper than the price of changing standards, so lets just all get educated.

Also, while it may be easier to mutiply/divide by 10 in your head, when you are in the kitchen, it is much easier to half/double the size of things when you look at them, than it is to figure out what 1/10th of it is.

Thats probabbly why england still uses it for cooking.

Life >>>> acedemic stuff

Except all those measurements were standardised using the bodies of different people; I suspect that, in order to be able to accurately measure with your feet and hands and whatever, your body would have to be grossly disproportionate, and trying to pretend that a mile = 15 minutes of walking is ridiculous. I can do the same type of eyeball calculation with the metric system, without all the idiocy of having multiple different units of the same type that have nothing to do with each other (How many feet in a mile? How many yards in a mile? How many inches in a yard? How many inches in a mile?) leading to bizarrely difficult calculations. Besides, educating the entire planet on your quaint and primitive system is in fact more expensive than changing your standards to conform to the civilized world; measuring according to some old dead guy's foot is barbaric.

Oh, and your note about train speed is stupid because it applies to any measurement of distance - Going at 60KpH also means 1KpM. Except conversions in metres per second are easier, and would be further easier if we used metric time.

And in cooking, people use cups and spoons as measurements because those are roughly the same size everywhere (But their size is more the same in Germany, where DIN standardises them). Besides, knowing how much half of a litre is is in fact easier than knowing how much half of a gallon is.

Doesn't this look like a stuffed animal to you? I swear it doesn't look real, especially with those frowning eyebrows that give him a too-human expression of being slightly pissed off!

But it's really a baby red panda.

Hmm, I will this inspire hordes of red panda furrikins?
