Actually, that's not true. While skills do tend to be nerfed or left in less-powerful forms, artifacts don't tend to be nerfed, and are usually buffed instead. Buying an artifact is probably one of the best investments you could make, as they are never, ever made less powerful than they already are for fear of the forums igniting from the flames from the artifact owners. Nerf a skill, a fraction of the fraction of the playerbase that spends significant amounts of money gets pissed. Nerf an artifact, you piss them all off.
How do you figure that, though? More people have skills than artifacts. I know we have more trans knights than people with runed weapons, for example, since people are going to invest first into the skill, second into the artifact. Artifacts that don't tie in with a skill are either such simple things they can't really be nerfed, or really expensive things that supposedly are balanced because there are never many of them around, like cubixes.

I apologize for my previous post, I have just learned by re-reading that post that it is completely pointless for me to attempt to post an opinionated post at 2 in the morning, as it will probably either make little sense or rely on grossly exaggerated claims. I was wildly incorrect about the reasoning behind the nerfing of artifacts, but my point still stands that artifacts are rarely nerfed and are therefore good investments.
