I prefer zMUD maps because:
- They're in full color.
- They're in a separate window, not taking up MUD text space.
- They have full descriptions (not sure if IMap has that or not, though).
- I don't like connecting to a game through a proxy server. I had the proxy crash on me one time and it took down the connection, obviously. I wasn't too happy about it.
- Much, much faster.
- More easily portable, being that it's not client-specific.
- Designed specifically to recognize IRE room details when mapping and/or moving.

It does have separate window, a floating MXP one that works especially well on zMUD I hear. Can easily be made functional in MUSHclient as well. Also, the IMapper do have full color support. And with a proxy like this you can shut down your client (or have it crash) without interrupting your connection to the MUD. Just reconnect and you're back where you were. I've never had it crash on me unless after some ruthless modification by myself, or when using a corrupt map (one made outside of IMapper, eg Notepad or somesuch).
Also, for your information, I hope to be able to release LMapper shortly. It'll adress most differencies between Lusternia and Imperian (sprinting, following, elevation, block skills, etc).

Thanks for the info, CroX. I haven't seen IMTS for a while, so I wasn't aware of the recent improvements. I almost wish I wasn't already so proficient with (and entrenched in) zMUD and CMUD, giving me more reason to look into a system like Whyte's. That ILua has me intrigued just a little.

Alright, the system is updated functional and for sale once more!

Are you back?
Ildaudid2007-06-18 23:46:31
yeah he is back, he took a crapload out of his system too, what i wish he would have done was leave it in folders, and point people to take out what folders they don't need, like I for one have no need for ciarandrood, so I get the needed triggerlines out of it and ditch the folder.
I on the other hand need to track rebounding and shielding, so I added that back in... The system is alot faster now, the way he revamped it, just remember that the updates will be lacking alot of things you may or may not have needed so, go through it with a fine toothed comb before jumping into PvP.
But this in no way means the system isnt alot quicker than it used to be. It is still a nice system.
It works very well, and actually I need to re re update since he made some more changes in the past few days.... I am just a little lazy atm... (sorry ciaran I will set it up soon and make newer logs for ya )

it's only bad when he tries to pvp with his autobasher  then I turned around and used my manual basher.

Actually if you have speed on your side, and set up the autobasher to notice rebounding and shielding it can surprise you, Thoros had me hit him a few times with a prc weapon and a few times with a damage weapon (now he wasn't healing, but it afflicted him with all different types of swinging afflictions and almost killed him when I was using a claymore) I would not recommend it though, since you really have no way of deciding what you will hit with (affliction wise) but it was neat to do... (Also remember Thoros turned his reflexes OFF for this, it in no way means other people will turn off their reflexes just to let you kill them )

Freak. I can't even do that with maps....
EDIT: And I mean that in the loving, friendly sort of way...not the namecalling way that will get me smacked around by the mods...

I have broken down I have IMap now, and my god it is a dream come true. I got it mainly for undervault, but I am loving the "map" alias for a point of reference to where I am... So I have gotten lazy and fallen off the memory train.... I also like seeing a picture of where I pop out when I cubix into celestia and stuff... I love Shammy's maps that he spent all the time making for us

Now, if we could just get them to work with losing balance. I've also never been brave enough to try area off and see if it actually works for LMAP with Sham's maps. Theoretically I think it should, but it's still questionable.
Other than that, I love them and they have saved me many times. They especially help with setting up a demesne. Zarquan's maps are good as well, I've used them for zMUD. They're much easier to update and more graphical, but I prefer the text maps and command-line speedwalking.
Shamarah2007-06-19 19:39:33
I've been messing around with the IMap code myself, actually, and added in the balance loss message so it doesn't freak out upon that anymore, and I also added in a little fix to make area off work (courtesy of Iasmos, who posted it to the forums, I actually just copy-pasted it into the code).
Still not sure how to make it recognize elevations, though. Maybe I'll scrutinize Iasmos/Jello's code and figure it out later.

Very nice! I thought about doing that several times, but I'm lazy. I have to type enough code at work, I avoid it whenever possible in my free time and leave it up to the experts.
Now you should add paralysis messages too, so those adoraths don't almost kill me when I forget about them and try to use automapper to run through to the seal...
Shryke2007-06-19 20:09:14
I've looked at the IMapper code, and changing the elevations should be pretty easy. You just have to change the Imperian prefix to the lusternian prefix.
I'll look it up again.
I'll look it up again.

It's actually a little more complicated, but still very simple. It was updated in LMTS a while ago, including the version CroX posted here for download, I think.
There are other issues with the system that I've been meaning to address, but I can't figure out why it crashes on a map load. I mean, I know that it's a memory corruption problem, but I can't figure out how to properly delete the map before loading the new one. Whyte re-wrote all the map storage code in his new IMTS, and it's confusing me.

Yes Ciaran, this one is a great great update;
I did the ctrl-Q test for zmud to check the speed. The older version kept hitting about 67.7 for me, this new one is hitting around 43.6, and I have a slow comp.
I think this is great update!!!
