I use my quickenings all the time, but then again i'm going after a lot of the Hunts and those things are bastages. I died 15 times to the White Mousse last night before I said hell with it. I was doing quickening with three, subbing one person out doing the quickening again, subbing one out until I used all six and the damn thing just kept whipping my ass. My characters are relativly young though, highest is 25 I think and my LP board isn't close to being maxed. Also I haven't even come across a single esper yet, then again i'm still at the beginning of Raithwaits Tomb (sp?)

Also a Game Guide? Doesn't anyone play the game through without help first?

Shameless contrary to my previous line, Someone mentioned an item that doubles LP. Got a name for it?

I used the game guide just for the maps. Rarely do I use it for directions on what to do or how to find items, etc.

The item you're looking for is called the Golden Amulet. There's a vendor in the south sprawl of lowtown that I've seen selling them, otherwise you'll have to wait until you get to Mt. Bur-Omisace to get one.

Ever since playing through VII three times, I've used guides because I don't feel like putting in 200 hours. I want everything on the first play through. This does, of course, lead to me usually not finishing a game. I have a save in 8 that's right at the end of disc three, same with 9 (though I did go back and beat it once) and 10.

You can also get a Golden Amulet by completing the Mark one of the garif gives you.

Finally came out! Amazon delivered a day earlier than they predicted again, so I'm going to go give it a whirl. biggrin.gif
Saran2007-02-23 13:21:06
Hee happy.gif got it yesterday, wub.gif it though I think I needed to level more before crossing the sand sea. everything just seems that tad bit too strong. That and money seems to be harder to come by, I remember in FFX where I'd just play through and at a random point go back to buy all the movie spheres still having enough money to buy whatever I needed.
Now I can barely afford enough potions and phoenix downs to keep me going sad.gif yay quickenings.

Jumping on the band wagon. Yay FFXII!

Stoopid Australia counting as Europe.

You know, if australia didn't count as Europe we simply wouldn't have games.

*e-cringes at the thought*

Yeah, they told me that as well...

But they delivered it today anyway. Did the same with Disgaea. 18 hours delivery much?

Anyway, yeah, wow, this is much harder than most FFs. I breeze through those and maybe day once per game. But I've already died twice here. No spoilers, but I have the third and fourth members of my party right now, having to take a break to help my dad find some stuff on the 'net.
Kharaen2007-02-23 15:11:05
Mm, I never used quickenings in the game or Espers except
for the Demon Wall fight.
Like most FFs, if you just spend time leveling a bit, you can usually breeze through the game... Gambits makes things so much faster too ^^

EDIT: for spoiler content >.>
Shiri2007-02-23 15:18:53
...there's a *I can't figure out how to use spoiler tags but it's in Kharaen's post* here too? Man, that was the only thing I died to in FF7.

Well, and maybe the Dock Loader as well. *uncrowned sad smiley*
Kharaen2007-02-23 15:29:23
There's two demon walls...both badass >.>
Saran2007-02-23 15:49:03
The second demon wall has half the health of the first one though. And you have way, way more time.
Apparently the strategy to take down the first one requires hastes and lvl three quickenings.

Spoiler tags are just or under special items in add reply
Kharaen2007-02-23 16:20:04
Yes, the second one by far is much easier then the first, and I didn't need quickenings in that fight. The first definitely requires quickenings, and maybe some Esper love.

The first Demon Wall is the hardest fight in the game I think. It was my hardest, even the Esper you have to kill in 5 minutes was easier.

Difficulty is relative to preparation and strategy which inturn lead into the how much survivability and power is required. the wall has just over 20,000 hp and is weak to holy. If you were kitted out with ethers and augmented up with two quickenings on the members you took in. Your chances of survival and winning increase drasticly especially if you can get mist charges.

With my level 15s (two with 2 quickenings and one with one) I was able to get a 9 hit combo and finish with torrent this took it down to between 2/3s and 3/4s. If I were to go down there at an apparently more appropriate level such as 18ish they would be slightly more powerful. If I were to take a few ethers (6-8 minimum) with 2-3 ether augments I would have the chance to launch at minimum 4 infernos with a good chance of getting off cataclysm there is a fairly good likely-hood that I would be able to pull off torrent and the fluke of pulling off a windburst. Using quickenings alone with strategic use of the license grid and ethers your chances increase greatly

I really liked this game and have to say it's my favorite of all the Final Fantasies. It looks really nice on my PS3 too. The only difficult fight I had in the whole game was beating that annoying massive Ringwyrm that's a hidden boss. I walked into the room and the guy had somewhere around 20 blocks under his main health line and everytime you emptied THAT line out another would pop in from underneath. It was depressing thinking I was about to win and then getting laughed at. I want to say that guy had around 20million health and at the time I was doing 3-5k a melee hit on him since most magics didn't touch him.

See, I started playing whenever it came out for us a month or two ago, and then got sidetracked. Since then I've played Crackdown, gotten back into Oblivion and Shadow of the Colossus, and bought and beaten both Guitar Heroes.

I never really got into FF12, and I was... Hrm, I think I got to the flying city. That's probably not too far, is it? I'm going to have to sit down and have at it for a while, because I've played almost every Final Fantasy ever, and beaten most of them (including 7-10). I'm going to have to try to speed up my gaming on other things, so I can finally get to this, because right now, it's just collecting dust.

And is a PS3 worth it at all? I have all kinds of systems (NES, SNES, N64, PS2, Wii, Xbox 360, PC) but for $600 and no games that stood out to me so far, I have no plans to buy one. If they re-release FF7, I will, and I might think about it for the FF13 games coming out.
Kharaen2007-02-24 02:11:01
I'm waiting for the PS3 to drastically drop in price before I bother getting one. Too much money for my broke butt :/ I did make a downpayment on a Wii though, and I'll probably have one in a couple weeks ^^ (a used Wii is the same price as a new PS2, insane.)

But I will get it since it's bound to have new BoDs, Suikodens, Disgaea, Darkcloud, FF, and lots more series that I love (maybe even Legacy of Kain?)
Richter2007-02-24 03:57:22
Don't know where you're from, but a new PS2 is $130 here, a new Wii is $250, so I assume I could find a used Wii for $200+.
