Bookbinders should get an ability allowing them to create designs for stationery. Please no high wood comms requirements though. 1 wood per letter is fine.
Verithrax2006-11-01 14:12:49
Bookbinders need a little love, so I say we change that to 2 letters per 1 wood (Which have to be identical). Is it proportional to other bookbinding items? No. Would it be good for all parties involved, including the game itself? Yes.

Actually, since designs would probably include an additional comm here and there (Tints, for example, or flowers for scented stationary) maybe they should be made in batches of ten or five.

OOooooooh! I'd LOVE to be able to make and use different kinds of letters!

official letters from guilds and cities with watermarks of their emblem or whatever, and flowers and hearts for love letters, and and, whatever else! Good idea, I like it!

Nice idea.

Artisans still need the ability to design custom vials!
Hiriako2006-11-01 23:23:07
I very much like this idea.

As to vials - they're made from gems in this realm. Jewelers should have that ability.
Verithrax2006-11-01 23:54:31
Except, jeweler already have sources of profit, and it makes more sense for them to be made by artisans than jewelers. Artisan vials could very well be made of wood, or metal, or even leather.

Artisan pipes don't sell much, cause its so much cheaper to make them with Arts, AND Arts pipes are only 1 wood, whereas Artisan pipes are minimum 5 comms. If Artisans/jewelers make vials, expect comm amount to also escalate. Most people usually go for a cheaper product then a prettier one.
Verithrax2006-11-02 00:47:41
Yes... I would hope artisan vials are cheaper than standard ones (Made in batches, say, from X amount of comms).

Artisan pipes should have some benefit. Perhaps staying lit longer? Also, I very much agree with the stationery idea, it's wonderful.

They last longer, but if you consider it comm/comm, the Arts pipes are still the better value. Artisan pipes last 2-3 times longer then an Arts pipe, but it takes 5 times the comms to make. I've made apipe though that Charune enthusiasts will be sure to buy if only the Charites approved it...

And yeah, Stationary's a good idea. I'd definately buy neat letters.
Shaeden2006-11-02 17:54:56
I actually use artisan pipes. Cost more, yes, but not having ti make/update pipelist all the time is worth it.
Noola2006-11-02 19:01:57
I use artisan pipes too cause they're pretty. Noola is girly enough that pretty often beats out cost. biggrin.gif

I want stationery that says, From the Desk of the Booze Lord
Shirath2006-11-06 22:05:25
I like I like I like. I'm virtuoso bookbinding, so free skills are always welcome.

Just on a side note; This is a really good idea!! Why isn't it in already!?

Some other thoughts I've had on things that it'd be nice to be able to do with letters, which might be appropriate for bookbinders:
-Copy a letter, so you can give a copy to someone else and keep a copy yourself.
-Sign a letter. Right now it's rediculously easy to forge letters from someone else. It'd be nice to be able to know that this letter really did come from a particular leader or whoever.
-Have multiple people sign a letter/document. This would be good for official inter-city/commune business, since letters could be sent that clearly show who's involved and treaties could be written down and signed like in the real world.
-Signatures might also be replaced by seals. If you make something it gets your 'mark' already, could we get signet rings or stamps that we could use to attach a seal to a letter that would also bear the same mark?

I think there might've been more, but it's late and I'm tired so I've forgotten anything else already.
