While writing the description for a custom violin, I came upon something puzzling...
Should the bow be included with the description of the violin?
I think there's one viola design where the bow is in the description, but all the others describe only the viola/in itself.
If not, then... I remember Estarra saying something about how instruments might become two-handed. Could a new item, the bow, be created perhaps somewhere in the artisan skillset (with a very low cost like 1 wood and 1 silk, although real bows were made with horse hair...)? Each piece would be one-handed but the bard would have to wield both in order to play. I know we could always just 'pretend' the bow is there, but ... that's not as fulfilling

nooo, stop trying to prevent me from selling shields!
Nementh2006-11-02 21:36:27
My custom violin has the bow described...

I like the idea of having a seperate bow! And if you can get the bow away from the bard they can't play!
Just out of curiosity...
Since a fiddle is the same thing as a violin (thanks Nementh! ) would a design calling it a fiddle be acceptable? Like, for instance, in the Journal section of bookbinding there are diaries. A diary is the same thing as a journal right? So it'd be a similar situation.

My viola mentions the bow too.

Diaries are a separate noun. Same thing, but separate noun.

The bow is mentioned in the dropped design of my custom violin, but not in the description.. So I guess it could work either way.

Mmkay, I guess I'll include the bow in the description then. But a seperate wieldable bow would still be cool... though I guess it's too late now

Seperate bow would be horrid, you know how hard combat would be trying to keep your bow in your hand so you can play your bloody violin? And then HAVING to get a shield rune so you can parry becuse you cant use a shield?

Why not make bows work like shields?
Imagine being struck by a mighty war axe, and just deflecting it with a swift tone or a whip of your bow! Muahahaha...
Never mind, ignore this completely

Diaries are a separate noun. Same thing, but separate noun.
Does that mean it's not possible?
Sylphas2006-11-07 00:31:58
I don't think they would actually care. Try it and see.

Pizzicato FTW! Bows are obsolete!
