As revealed by Brother Crow and White Hart, those with their totemic
skills can assign a Druid caretaker of their totem, allowing the druid
to affix runes and tune the totem.

So like...since I seem to have lost my grip on the exact terms involved in that whole business, what did that do?

You may assign a Druid caretaker for your totem, which will allow them
to affix runes to the totem and tune it as though it were their own. If
you are a Druid, sense will also show you the locations of any totems
for which you are the caretaker.

That person must be standing with you before your totem in order to assume the responsibilities of your totemic caretaker.

Basically means that he can rune and tune it as if it was "bonded to him," though it's actually bonded to me. Nothing changes in terms of how it works on defense, just means that we can let little newbie Ebonguard bond their own totems and assign a caretaker to set it up for them.

You join hands with Xavius before a shadow totem, as it begins to recognize him as its chosen caretaker and they form a sacred bond of druidic magic.

It also might help with druids who don't have the druidry skill needed to rune totems.
