That game was magnificent on it's own, but having read Atlas Shrugged and Fountainhead before playing it made it just so much better.
My rave: The "hard" bashing for warriors is apparently below 80, but so far it's seemed like it's breezing by compared to how fast it was in Achaea, I can only imagine how much better it gets at upper levels.
Shiri2008-04-03 07:05:37
I was tempted to read 'em after playing, but I heard the writing is really awkward. Besides, from what little I understand of objectivism Rapture wasn't doing a particularly good job of it anyway, what with smuggled crosses all over the place.
Hmm, I should reinstall that game sometime (unless I get ganked by the copy protection).

The writing style is very fluid. If you could get through Dickens (whom I really dislike stylewise) or Catch-22 (which is genius) you would be more than fine. Just make sure to read the back where Objectivism is explained so you understand all the very heavy light/reflection/stone symbolism.
/end derail.

I managed to acquire about 70 credits thru the city credit sale and the open market. I've upped my acrobatics and suddenly, I find I can do this:
Yay! But just for reference, I can avoid each type of attack? For example, something attacked me with a physical, magic, fire, frost, psionic attack.. it is possible for me to avoid 5times at once?
If the answer is yes.. then groovy!, I'm so gonna trans this skill..

An enormous gorgog flings a muscled arm out, his fist slamming into your gut and remaining there. Slowly, he begins to chant hoarse syllables beneath his breath, and a burning blast of boiling water slams into your flesh, blistering on contact.
You twist aside, deflecting part of the attack.

If the answer is yes, I'll be speaking to my Envoy about getting that "bug" fixed.

It's neither a bug, nor an extra boost. It just means that there's a % reduction for each "type" of the attack. For example, let's say that a mob hits you with 25% fire, 25% cold, 25% poison, and 25% wtfSojiro.
This skill will fire 4 times, to 4 different types-- let's say it rolls a 5, a 6, a 2 and a 0 (because hey, it's wtfSojiro. Good luck dodging that!)
You get a 5% reduction on the 25% fire, a 6% reduction on the 25% cold, a 2% reduction on the 25% poison, and a 0% reduction on the wtfSojiro. This averages out to a 3.25% reduction on the total damage.
The same sort of thing happens with stolen shadows, if you have a multi-type attack. While there IS a boost for each damage type, remember that each damage type is just a percentage of the whole-- so +20% damage to 50% of the damage +20% damage to the other 50% of the damage is a total of +20%, not +40%.

eww..
Those were just random numbers used for the example, but when it was implemented at least it was not implemented as a flat reduction (and I don't believe it was anywhere near as high as 20%). It was put in with a range between something like 5 and 15... eh, around that.
Shouldn't be hard for you to test, though.

I finally found out who John Galt is!
John Galt (Male Human).
He is 202 years old, having been born on the 25th of Dioni, 0 years after the
Coming of Estarra.
He is unranked in Lusternia.
He has triumphed 12 times in the combat rankings.
He is an extremely credible character.
He is a Vagrant in the Fellowship of Explorers.
His motto: 'Feel the objective might of reality!'
He is considered to be approximately equal to your might.
He is not currently active in any family.
