In the real world, it's an exam you take at the age of 15-16. The name "O-level" is archaic in England now, we call them GCSEs (general certificate of secondary education) but in Singapore they still call it by the old name.

I think it's 16-17 here too, I get confused over that sometimes since I skipped a year. And we still call A-levels the same thing actually, but we don't have N-levels that I know of.
