Ayridion, for taking a mediocre idea and turning it into an enjoyable, unusual, RP event.

Having Gwylifar back would certainly be a positive thing. Please? smile.gif

Not really an option. Gwylifar was explicitly designed to be drawn into precisely those parts of Lusternia I thought I'd enjoy most, based on the description of Lusternia on its webpage. And thus, precisely those parts that are the most aggravating and disappointing. He has some fifty years of established roleplay, alliances and enemyships, responsibilities, etc. which would draw him right back into those precise same things. (The invitation to come back and "bust some n00bs" is a perfect example of that.)

Even if I had him come back so completely changed that he was essentially a different person, and thus no longer obligated to participate in those aspects of Lusternia which frustrated me, and even if I was willing to deal with all the changes he'd have to acclimate himself to, he would still be burdened too much with his past because of all the other people who would retain their perceptions (correct or incorrect) of him and attitudes towards him.

It would be much easier and more effective to start over entirely with a character designed to only get himself involved in the bits that I eventually found out were fun and not disappointing or frustrating. I think about that sometimes.

My sympathies. I have played myself into a corner before, and that is frustrating. I would just as soon not do that in Lusternia.

As a caution to those characters younger than Gwylifar, which aspects did you find fun and which frustrating, and why?

Additionally, to keep things on topic for the thread -

Forging. Generally, frustrating - but once in a while you get to forge a genuinely decent piece of work. And that is...

Very nice indeed.

It was fun sitting around, getting drunk with Valarien, Veyda, and Viravain.

Cognac sucks, though.

Mmm. I had a yummy pasta with cognac sauce and calamari wednesday night. So I disagree! tongue.gif

That's way too big a question to answer here and I don't really want to go through it all again anyway. It's all out there on the forums or elsewhere to be found if anyone wants to. I don't think it'd be constructive to rehash it now anyway; it's ancient history.

I'd be happy having you as a player back. Gwylifar was certainly lovely but you yourself are more of an asset to the game than any particular character you might create.

This small, white translucent gemstone has a flat top and a multi-faceted sides.
The gem doesn't seem to be worth much, and you cannot identify what sort of gem
it is. From the looks of it, the gem merely looks like white-colored quartz. The
only clue that the gem is perhaps something more is the soft white nimbus that
is emanating from it. The word 'Tulahuar' is etched into it in minute script.
It weighs 4 ounce(s).
It bears the distinctive mark of Moon's Wisdom, Laysus, Dancer in the Moonlight.
It is imbued with 0% esteem.
