Thanks Vix, I just hope I can get back into the swing of things, as I do not believe I can play while in China... ;_;

*squeee* I’m going to rave about finally getting the cure for insanity after these many months with everyone asking me "can you cure insanity" and having to reply "no, I'm not skilled enough, almost, but not yet".

Didn't China rescind their decision to ban IRE? Or do you mean not having internet access? If the latter, that sucks. sad.gif
Furien2007-05-07 01:13:45
Whoa, they really banned IRE? I thought it was some joke I saw in a forum sig. Why in the world did they do that? :S
Vix2007-05-07 01:15:16
Matt made some snide comment about the Chinese government, so they banned IRE. Thus, the threat to nerf rice-making. tongue.gif

Sarapis made some remarks on a prominent site about their fascist government or something, I remember. The joke was that after they banned IRE he made some remark about nerfing ricemaking in all his games.

EDIT: Ninja'd by Vix of all people...:/

It is because of the ban, and not because of not having anything. I do have a server here at my house, and a bsd shell account on a friend's server in DC. I -could- in theory, ssh into my server, or the shell, and play from there, but then I would be limited to TinyFugue, and thus would not be able to practice combat... But I guess I could use that as a way to collect affliction lines, while people get to beat on me in good measure.

When did this ban thingie happen? I was comfortably playing Lusternia in China this winter.
Shiri2007-05-07 01:40:16
Uh...like 2 years ago. Chade got stranded in the middle of it.
Simimi2007-05-07 01:43:24
I will be in Beijing, PRC- China.. I am not sure the ban applies to Hongkong SAR or other municipalities, or not.

This has got to be a joke. It has to be. The only reason I couldn't play Lusternia in China was because of a stupid earthquake that cut just about every trans-Pacific cable connecting Asia + parts of Australia to North America and by extention, the rest of the world.

EDIT: I was in lovely Guangzhou.

I wonder if it was this:

"Third, the Chinese government is run by paranoid totalitarians. Many developers have heard of two games banned there for content objectionable to the revisionist history of these jokers. The government's Ministry of Culture announced that in addition to prohibiting content that "could threaten national unity," "Online games with content threatening state security, damaging the nation's glory, disturbing social order, and infringing on other's legitimate rights" will be banned. In other words, watch out. It may be a ploy to extort operators for bribe money or, more frighteningly, they may actually be serious about cracking down on this "rogue content" that is clearly only months away from plunging their country into war, chaos and hordes of marauding pony-riding Mongols tearing up the countryside and making a general nuisance of themselves."

That's an exerpt from Matt on RPG Vault talking about why previous MMORPG's have failed to be completely global.

That's the one I was thinking of.

Yo, less China, more raving. Raving about China is acceptable too, I guess.

Finally got around to buying CoH, and I'm starting up playing it at the same time as a good friend of mine, so minor wootage for that.

I just won $82 on lottery tickets. Yay me.
Furien2007-05-07 03:41:01
Much <3 for whoever was playing as that woman in the hills. That was a lot of fun. Though, boo, you should be ashamed for killing her off! cry.gif
Arix2007-05-07 09:25:11
