Yini used some Wildarrane on me when I attacked her; I didn't have triggers for it and didn't even put up deafness and I just kinda laughed at it because it really sucked. I then died to the instakill because I'd never seen the messages before and didn't know that's what it was, but now that I have the messages I will never die to it again.
Yeah, but you're not going to die to any of the Bard skillsets if you know the messages. Wildarrane is the best because it can increase your tiredness regardless of whether you're deaf or not. Now, that may not be much, but it is better than anything the other skillsets can do solo.

I can't claim to know anything about the bards' skillsets at all, so I'm not going to. Because that would be lying. However, Soll was -very- difficult to pin down on Astral Nodes last night. Even when cornered by Saddim and me, he kept doing backflips so I couldn't hit him.. and similar peculiar, dexterous rubbish. To me, the bards' skillsets sound wonderful. I'm only really interested in avoiding death and supporting in combat.. I don't fight one on one at all.... maybe I should make one...

Still the essence of his post is correct - the chart, frankly, sucks (no offense Elryn). It's the post's form that people should - and do! - disagree with.

Can we just make deafness a defense allready, or stop forcing it to be a defense?
Gwylifar2006-11-14 02:34:53
If it blocks an entire skillset, it already is a defense.

Envoy reports focus mostly on combat balance issues and don't have room for more RP-focused issues, so let me post a few minor, easy requests here.
1. Don't charge mana or ego for a stanza with no powers imbued.
These are mostly used for performances, and this would have no real combat impact, but it sure improves a performance not to be chugging vials throughout it. The only one I can imagine is saving some mana sips on the way to a higher-stanza power, which seems trivial; but if that's an issue, just restrict this to songs where all stanzas have no powers.
2. A stanza with no powers imbued shouldn't be aggressive.
If a stanza imbued with Palebeauty can be played behind a shield or in grace, why not one imbued with nothing at all?
3. A stanza with a targetted power should be playable without a target, and then act like it is not imbued with any power.
We work hard on those lyrics, and would like to be able to show off the songs without actually killing anyone in the audience (which always makes the gig a real bummer). At present, if you play a stanza imbued with, say, Bardoon, and don't provide a target, the song grinds to a stop and you get a "can't find him" message. Instead, it should perform without the power. (You can work around this by imbuing another power for the performance, then switching back later, but that's messy.)
