The title is from Pandora.com for anyone that doesn't know. The basic idea is that you tell it what music you like, and it plays various songs. You tell it whether you like those songs or not and based on your feedback. It's really cool, and usually does eventually find cool new bands that you'll like.

The problem is that it tends to take a while for it to show you songs that you BOTH haven't heard before and actually like. Thus, this thread. I want your opinions on these two groups and would like for you to offer other bands that are similar and that you personally like.

Someone that sounds like Three Days Grace, Hinder, Ill Nino, Guano Apes, Schoolyard Heroes, and/or Breaking Benjamin.

And someone else that sounds like Alanis Morissette, Tori Amos, Evanescence, Within Temptation, Panic! At the Disco.

I'm actually not looking for someone that sounds like those two groups, per se, but more other bands that you enjoy if you also enjoy some or most of the people from the groups.

Three Days Grace is one of my favorite bands tongue.gif. I also like Papa Roach which is a bit similar, Celldweller, and Trust Company.

For the others, all of those are sort of outside the norm, and if you like that sort of thing I would also recommend Fiona Apple, The Postal Service, or Muse maybe.

Know and love Papa Roach and Muse, I just forgot to put them on the list.

I really, really like Celldweller, I really like Postal Service and Trust Company, but the two songs I could find by Fiona Apple I wasn't really fond of. Is there a specific song/album/time period I should look for?

By the way, thanks a lot.

Hmm, I like the songs Paper Bag, Ugly Girl (tongue.gif It's funny) and Criminal. I think her first album Tidal is good and a few on When the Pawn..., I haven't listened to her latest album though

I like a bunch of the bands from your first category, namely Breaking Benjamin, three days grace, ill nino, and trust company. Mostly breaking benjamin.

But anyways, my recommendations...surprisingly, SR-71. Only a few of their songs though, like "Goodbye", "They all fall down", and "The Hell song". Also would recommend Finch, namely "Ender", and "Perfection through silence".

Some other songs I've found through pandora: 'The Phrase that pays' by The Academy is... "The taste of ink" by The Used, and "Slow suicide" by Jamison Parker.

Mmk, I just joined Last.fm for lulz and giggles. It's actually pretty nifty, so I searched for a Lusternia group, because I was interested in seeing what fellow players listen to. I didn't find one, so I made my own. It's currently open for anyone to join, and I'm mal3diction. Join up and add to the statistics.

These bands/singers are more along the lines of ones I like (wub.gif tori), so I'll make suggestions:

Regina Spektor
Imogen Heap
Something With Numbers ("Apple Of The Eye" is an awesome song if you like rock you can sing to).
Nightwish
Alison Crowe
Sarah Blasko

PS. Oh check out The Butterfly Effect for some heavier Aussie rock.
PPS. Three Fiona Apple songs I personally love (both from the same album, "When The Pawn...") are "Limp", "Fast As You Can" and "A Mistake"
PPPS. I keep adding more songs of Fiona's, from "When the Pawn...". I started at two, made it three, and here's another, "On The Bound". I think I just love the whole cd.

I used to like Nightwish until I realized that all their songs sound the same...

You want some good music? Dream Theater's Scenes from a Memory Album.

Also good, is The Mars Volta's first album, and 30 Seconds to Mars's first album...

Hmm...

Dream Theater will eventually lead to Pain of Salvation. Be is an especially nice album, absolutely stunning vocals.
Genevieve2006-12-10 17:51:31
Hmm really, haven't heard of them. Tell me more

Pain of Salvation are incredible prog. metal. From the album Be, try Iter Impius (powerful vocals) and Imago (strong folk elements). Daniel Gildenlow's range is just incredible...

Gotta love prog.

How could I forget! Download all the albums by The Faint. Good stuff, really good stuff.

Fun single: Miss Kitten - Frank Sinatra
