Something should be done about the boredom. It is repetitive, attack celestia/nil/eth glom/eth seren.... whoever has the biggest group or whoever has currents up already wins.
I mean, I got bored, checked out the artifact list from Imperian, and about fell over backwards. They already seem to have about "every" arti that is considered an auction one here as a normal one there. Granted they are expensive for said arti's but still.
Then I looked at the skilllists (which they didn't keep some secret, you could access it from the website with all the skills in it) If the arti's weren't bad enough, the larger amount of skills per skillset made me really disappointed.
I love this place, just don't see how you can pay the same amount (OOC credits OR IG credits) and get almost half as many skills as you would in another IRE game. No wonder we don't have a large playerbase. If person A is considering a mud, that he may or may not pay for, they will go where there is more bang for their buck.
The storyline and the people here are awesome, it's just that it seems a little bit strange that we would get less for our money... If I was marketing something and wanted a larger playerbase, I would sell more for less, not less for more.

then maybe Lusty needs a fix-up like in highmagic, lowmagic, and discipline...

I sincerely disagree with you here, Lusternia has an extreme amount of good skills at low level, meaning that even without buying any credits you can have a lot of skills that would take forever to obtain in other IRE muds like for example aetolia (anyone who's played either aetolia or achaea pretty much orgasms at totems and planar). I'm afraid I never got into Imperian because I thought the storyline was boring so I can't judge how they do things there.
You're welcome to disagree, just do not present your arguments as absolute truth please.

Mebbe do something more than just fight? Just a suggestion... I don't do much fighting, and so I'm finding Astral Nodes exciting and novel.

We have wildnodes for that right?
For 2 hours you can attack who you want on astral, they will conglutinate( its laughable exp lose) and beyond that you haev a goal and not only stupid bloodbath.
Yes i know its mainly group vs group but i still think its fun.
Except demigods.

I have a lot of respect for Imperian and think it is a fine game, and you will never hear me say anything negative about Imperian or its administrators. However, I do think you are dead wrong about the number of skills per skillset. I think you may be looking at specializations as complete skillsets, when in fact the base skill plus the specialization is equivalent to a full skillset. In other words, necromancy is Imperian has 31 skills, whereas in Lusternia the parallel skillset is made up of cosmic plus necromancy which is 32 skills. Look at other skills with specializations and I think you'll find that skills per skillset in Lusternia is on par or even greater than parallel skills in other IRE games. (For instance, Knighthood+weapon specialization or nature plus wiccan/druidiry, psionics plus telepath/telekinses, etc.)
Shayle2006-11-12 22:45:20
This event in Imperian seems to be encouraging a lot of teaming, griefing, and player discontent, even from participants from what I've seen in game/read on their forums. Don't think it's a good idea at all.
Gandal2006-11-12 22:55:24
Eep, Necromancy is Rituals + Necromancy

Darn Nihilists are always confusing me!
Okay, make that 30 skills for our parallel version...

Sounds like Anarchaea but without the coolness.
Anarchaea was quite possibly one of the most fun things that ever happened on Achaea.
*reminisces about flying above NoT with others and dropping holocaust bombs*
*sighhh*
Anyways, it sounds fun, but you know that people aren't going to be able to handle it. People are going to take it as an excuse to kill EVERYONE they come across, not just fighters. I think it would be one of those things that are only fun for the people who won't totally get their ass kicked.
Shamarah2006-11-12 23:31:50
Could make it something optional that you join.

Was that when they were running on the back-up servers a couple years ago?
Daganev2006-11-12 23:56:47
I think the difference is the "mini" skillsets which cost like 180 credits there to trans, but 300 here.
I've always wanted more skills in discipline, highmagic/lowmagic etc.
I even came up with one for highmagic.. Rachamim... the mercifulll hand. once per RL day, instead of dieing to an -instantkill- you get 5 seconds of grace to run away and lose all your defenses.

That's all fine and good. Since you haven't gone to Imperian, and I wasn't describing Lusty to Achaea or Aetolia, you should actually go read the website and see the skill lists before you sincerely disagree with me on it. And if you think planar has a lot of low level skills to offer wait until you get to conglute, which is a must here. But of course you are welcome to disagree with me, just don't present your arguments as absolute truth please
I don't present things as actual truth, even tho... I am the embodiment of truth, peace AND serenity
Anyways, You are probably right Daganev, I was reading down the skillsets, and comparing lets say Toxins, Hypnosis, Sabotage (3 specs for Saboteur) for My knighthood, PB, Athletics, Tracking (not including the silly hunting and forgot to include Knighthood itself)
But when you see 55 in Toxins, 28 Hypnosis, and like 30 or so in Sabotage, you get a little tweaked out...
Estarra, yeah I think you are right in that.... by far IMO Lusty has a much better RP line to it, the stories are great and the players are great, save for *roll dice* -----> Forren (yes YOU Forren, you make the game unplayable for everyone... you win the dice roll this time )
But I like to get these gears turning and rolling some, if not rigor mortis will develop, and we will have to cut our losses... This place needs more players. More players will bring more promotion, more promotion will bring more money to the Lusty Development Team, and this will come around full circle again and bring in more areas, more things to do, and less stagnancy.
Gandal2006-11-13 01:10:02
OMG you said gears, and that has to do with Lusty for some reason that I haven't yet figured out (the gears on the website and such)...
Btw, I've tried Achaea, Imperian, and Aetolia to a very small degree, and...besides from the Achaea hype (in my opinion at least), can't really tell the difference in terms of newbie friendliness...
Halli and Gaudi would increase our playerbase... Anyway...*cough* *jk*

As an imperian player, this particular event was a really good reason to play Lusternia!
Note:
And just as a side note I really like Imperian's combat. I just like roleplay better.

Imperian has a lot of neat little features, and the magick vs. anti-magick theme is interesting... but it just lacks something that Lusternia has that keeps me staying here rather than there (have an old bard in Imp).
Anyway, maybe there could be an isolated aether bubble/new plane where people can travel to and have bloody PK events hosted. Battle Royale anyone? (*sniff* what a touching movie... though I hear a new movie is being made for NA release? ) ahem...
