Trans Artisan - Prized

So, I have NEVER used this skill yet, partly because of the gold cost (Yeah, I'm poor), but mostly because it says:

QUOTE
It costs 10,000 gold to place your golden seal upon a piece of furniture to claim it as your prized possession and you may only ever have one prized piece.

So, it kinda sounds like only one EVER. For EVER. But you know.. I can't see it working like that. Does it actually mean one at a time, and if I set something else as a prized piece, it changes to that? And what if I deconstruct the prized furniture, can I bond with something else?

Would like to know before I make some rubbishy couch prized just for convenience and then find out I can't change it mellow.gif

Not really sure... but in my opinion, you dont really need a prized furniture. Ever.

I heard it acts as a teleportation device, but I'd rather invest 90 lessons in planar to get teleport rather than spend lessons from mythical-trans in artisan to get prized. You get teleport nexus in the teleport skill, which is a very safe area, and it costs no power.

I just find the trans skill in artisan useless, but if i miss anything about prized that makes it worthwhile to learn please do let me know.

I don't really find nothing wrong here, everything has its up and downs

Prized Furniture as it says lets you teleport to it no matter where you are, what plane it is, thus very useful if you're a Paladin or someone stuck on astral and no one can hear you or help you tess over to safety. Kinda useful for Bards and Warrior types.

Now if we can only get to chop more wood, then we'd be happy.
Shinza2006-11-18 09:14:13
Well, like Lysandus says - 5p, you teleport to the furniture from anywhere, any plane.

The main thing I'm looking at here is some furniture on my ship on the (now not so off) off-chance I die while docked at a bubble. Then I can (theoretically) return to that furniture on the ship and not have to pester someone to take me all the way out to the bubble.

I only actually used it one, but I'm pretty sure it is only one piece of furniture, ever, the piece basically becomes an artifact, it cant be removed and it wont decay. And yes, you could like get a stool or something on Astral or an Aetherbubble and teleport there.
Shinza2006-11-18 10:23:59
Wow, only one, ever. That kind of sucks, since I don't really want to waste the no-decay on some crummy couch. I'll have to wait until I get another room and can afford a throne to put in there... maybe in 2 years time sad.gif

I'm not sure if it the 'bond' dissapears when you lose trans artisan, that would actually be interesting, I assume you would lose the ability to travel to it, but I wonder if it will revert back into the normal state of decay or not.

Urr.. hello..?!? That trans skill rocks. I seriously considered going artisan recently just to get it.
Shinza2006-11-18 14:11:02
Heh, pretty sure it IS the reason I took this otherwise unsure.gif trade skill in the first place. That, and having all the furniture in my manse have my own mark on them.

Gonna get a throne in the next day, then I guess I will have to test it once and for all. Well, at least test if the bond can be changed. Not really keen on dismantling a 500-marble throne just to see if it can be done to a prized piece laugh.gif
Unknown2006-11-18 15:12:54
I know Kaervas used it to get home from the aetherbubbles. That in itself sounds pretty useful.

oh, what tenqual said.

ignore me o-o
Kharaen2006-11-18 15:30:41
Prized is extremely useful in getting out of tough situations: Linked creatures running amock on Astral and no way back? Prize return! Stranded on some aether bubble in the middle of aetherspace? Prize return!

You can deconstruct the prized furniture, that would get rid of the bond, and then build something else and prize it. So you aren't stuck with one forever choice of a prized furniture, you can just deconstruct and prize something else.

Artisans who change trade, but still have a prized piece of furniture, retain the bond and the ability to prize return.
Hiriako2006-11-18 16:49:28
I can provide evidence for that, Kharaen. Myself. I was a transcended Artisan. I now am an herbalist, but I still have the ability to PRIZE RETURN. That item has no decay, as well.
Zalandrus2006-11-18 18:25:02
I really liked prized furniture, not only because it's cool, because, as has been stated before, it's a nice teleportation tool. Back when I was an Aquamancer, I came up with this idea of leaving my ship (with my prized chest) connected to the Leo sphere (because it was an easier one, and was closer to a few other easy ones), and if I ever wanted to go hunting, I'd just prize return...the only problem was that I needed a tess to get down, and nobody could hear me if I said something on the aethers while in my manse...

Now that I'm a squishy Merian bard (::shudder:smile.gif, I've temporarily suspended any hunting ventures sad.gif

Hehehe.. or you could just have melded one room and centered to it...?
Shinza2006-11-18 20:45:11
@Kharaen: Woot, thank you, that's what I wanted to know!
Shorlen2006-11-19 10:53:02
Whoa, 200cr for an artifact that lets you return from aetherbubbles trivially? Hrm! That's almost worth it. But then again, I'd rather get a Whistle for 250cr.
Saran2006-11-19 11:01:27
It's handy for example when you fly and dock at an enemy plane then should your group die you just prized up there without having to transverse through things.

True, I could've, but the manse can be left there after you log out, whereas the mancers had this rule about no undissolved demesnes...plus, my throne was in my manse, so it wasn't completely useless to get to my manse first to get to astral.

Then again, that also meant my throne wasn't as easily accessible if I was on Prime tongue.gif
Reiha2006-11-19 20:17:09
How long is the balance recovery for this? And is it easily interruptable if you sip while you're doing it or something?
Hiriako2006-11-19 20:41:33
It's a touch faster than teleport nexus, I believe. Works like a standard teleport.
