Telepathy vs Telekinetics

This isn't one of those 'what should I do with my character' threads, I've basically decided what I want to do - I'm going to try to join the Geos. I'm curious about psionics, though, don't know much about it. Which specialization is better for 1-on-1 combat? Is it the same for group combat? Is either specialization better than the other for hunting?

For now, I'm thinking that Telepathy might be the better choice for a fighter, but I'm not sure yet.

Also, is mugwump still a good race for psionics? If the skills are eq based it might be nice, but my charisma (and consequently my ego) is pretty sad.

Telekinetics... Geo's need more Telekinetics and you can barrier someon drop monoliths all around and force them to pray on prime!! Just like some unamed telekinetic from Celest likes to do tongue.gif

Telekinesis is AWESOME for hunting, mainly because of forcefield (although you need high charisma to make full use of it...). Apparently people think daggers are overpowered too. The Telekinesis instakill might be a bit harder to pull off than Telepathy's, but it definitely can be done.

But telepathy has its fun moments too. Somebody literally spammed me with afflictions in a very short interval. It was quite entertaining biggrin.gif

What about the mugwump race? I could get a dagger, but it would come at the cost of not transing something (probably illusions)

EDIT: Other options I'm considering are furrikin, or possibly humans, no idea what their races are. I'm around level 78, so evolution will have kicked in some, but maybe not enough yet to make them very good.

Faelings make some of the best psionics users, period. Only issue is the lack of tankiness. At a higher level, I'd also say human. As a geomancer, you don't really have the luxury of being a merian.
Shorlen2006-11-27 00:10:59
Remember daggers are getting nerfed.
Gandal2006-11-27 00:18:07
Faelings aren't that untanky...the sip bonus is awesome (for me 900-1000 a sip, correct me if I'm wrong don't flame me pleasesign.gif)
Unknown2006-11-27 00:57:34
Faeling ego sip borders on the outrageous (I remember doing some tests with Ibaesha back in the day, she was only half my level and her sip was still bigger then mine), combined with Forcefield that can make you pretty beefy.
Gandal2006-11-27 00:59:59
Yeah, influencing as a faeling was fun
Hiriako2006-11-27 05:24:15
Faeling sip bonus is utterly obscene. I heal as well as a Faeling as I do as an Elfen Lord.

Less health, much better sipping.

Nerfed some yes, but not enough to quit being a telekinetic, also tell them that they are going to possibly get a new skill in place of it....

Yeah human or faeling, would be good cuz of charisma... mugwump for eq balance but not much else... But what are you now? If you can chill with the race you have till 85 then go human for your free reincarnate that would be good... or if you can afford a dagger... go faeling then if you dont like it too much you can switch to human
Hiriako2006-11-27 06:45:03
How much do daggers cost that affording them is an issue. O.o
Ixion2006-11-27 06:48:07
100cr.
Hiriako2006-11-27 06:49:25
I think I'm thoroughly confused then. The skill animatedagger will only work with a 100 credit (presumably) artifact dagger?
Ixion2006-11-27 06:55:05
Dagger of reincarnation. Ild's post was about reincarnating, Hiri.
Hiriako2006-11-27 06:58:19
Gah, bloody 'ell. Sorry. Derian's post confused me there when he was talking about the dagger and not transing something as they were talking about the telekinetic daggers. I really shouldn't be reading these at 2 am.

Shorlen2006-11-27 07:00:26
Psionic daggers are getting nerfed a good deal soon.

Arti daggers for reincarnation are not.

No he's just screwing with you. That's the Dagger of Reincarnation. A smith-made dagger is only about 600 to 800 gold, tops.
Ixion2006-11-27 07:03:27
Not messing with him. Read Ild's post (hooked on phonics doesn't work for everyone I guess tongue.gif). He's referring to reincarnation.
Ildaudid2006-11-27 07:07:20
yeah I make run on sentences and my grammar sucks but Ixion knows what I meant
