I think Estarra's idea sounds perfect. It would solve so many problems! I think this is one time where I completely and 100% agree with an Estarra change tongue.gif

When people will fight the fights we like (straight up one on one or group combat) without trying to use stupid things to bypass enemy status, maybe we will be one step closer to a not having a babysitter...

The only place you'll get straight up fights is in the arena, and even then (as shown by the anniversary FFA's) it's not guaranteed. Duels aren't even likely to be 1v1's anymore.

In a game where there is a definite victor after each conflict, you better believe that each team is going to try anything and everything they can to win. To believe otherwise is naive, and to claim otherwise is hypocritical.

Wish I knew how to edit polls, if that was possible, I really like Estarra's idea. Not sure why I didn't think of it when making this poll doh.gif

How does it solve the camping out at Nexus killing people who transverse problem?
Unknown2006-11-29 21:36:31
It keeps non-defenders (i.e., those who "belong" on that plane) from camping and killing. You don't get a group of Magnagorans sitting on Celestia killing the Celestians that transverse unless they've earned the right to sit there by first killing all the guards, and that's quite a feat, in my opinion.
Clise2006-11-30 00:23:19
Certainly not now! tongue.gif Though it was an issue in the past when you had 12 to 15 geomancers melding the entire plane and waiting 2 rooms away from the nexus in LOS. Transversing up alone was asking to be staff pointed to death in less than a second.

Now that the nexus has been moved one room upwards on Celestia, no 2 rooms or so away from the Megalith that are LOS, (sorry not sure about the moonhart but the ravenwood still has this problem), there shouldn't be a staff/cudgel to death as you transverse up to defend.

The simple solution would be to make a room with a nexus impossible to summon or teleport or magically move to or from (except for NEXUS TELEPORT). Note you'd have to step away from the nexus to summon another or even teleport/tesseract.

That sounds pretty smart, I think everyone or most would agree with it as it dosn't really cause any other problems other than a slight incon if you have to teleport to someone, other than that it looks pretty good. Go for it!

I voted for 'Where am I?' cause I suddenly got the feeling that I was back in kindergarten again, what with all the babysitting going on.

There are too many rules and regulations arising nowadays that it's just getting too damned cluttered. Someone clean up tha mess!! (Start with removing avenger! biggrin.gif )

We could avoid all the babysitting and whining and even remove avenger if people would stop being cheap, but you know that aint going to happen.

Well, new update to help prevent the problem.
Acrune2006-12-07 02:55:51
That was really stupid, 1 stonewall completely destroys Celests ability to move a group on Celestia, and there are so few people that can crash that by the time we get it down, another stonewall just goes right back up. Fix plz!

Edit: Can we move the pool back to where it was now that people can't be moved to or from it? Or something? The current system completely screws over Celestia defense.
Revan2006-12-07 03:24:47
You guys successfully repelled us. i see no problem, Acrune. You came, fought valiantly, and did well. That's the kind of raiding that makes the game enjoyable.

That is why you learn crash, that is what the skill is for. Also tumble helps. Its like saying you shouldnt have to have scale to reach places in the game. -shrug-

Yeah, I bet you loved it, raiding and Celest can't even get off the pool.

Let us teleport away from the pool maybe?

Do I have to defend things on mountains? No. I could care less about mountains. Most people can tumble past the wall, but not everyone, plus we'd have to reassemble on the other side and that takes precious time. But whatever, I'll deal with it. Just infuriating.

So now crash is also a required skill as well as tumble?
I dislike the attitude that assumes that one must be trans or near in every skill in order to participate in combat.
Genevieve2006-12-07 05:32:15
Agreed.

Well, my friend, you need to get out of the "Celest must remain at the pool forever" mentality. Grow a pair, and come fight.

Hey look at that, unexpected consequences to hasty changes.
