People didn't expect this? I know plenty of people who are friends with others just because they get something from them; at least straight up cash is a lot more honest.

Thing is, they probably aren't really employing those people. It is much cheaper to simply get a handful of people to make those comments, while using several different MySpace/Facebook IDs (And several different images of models either taken from freelance models or directly from a stock photo catalog).

Hence, it is not really a case of paying for a pseudo friend, it's a case of paying for bogus comments to be planted on your MySpace page to make you look popular.

Amounts to the same thing. You pay someone to make you look popular. Admitting to yourself that you feel the need to pay someone to make you look popular is probably a lot healthier than trying to do it in a more surreptitious fashion.

A site that let you add "models" and such for .99 a month each, they leave you comments, you can tell them kind of what to leave too. And yes, the site appears to be no longer functioning, I blame us. >.>
