I've been wanting to get into figurine battling for a while now, and I recently bought the commodities to have one made. I've been reading through the forums to see who has one, as nobody I've spoken with in game has any interest, but most of the posts I've found are from September. Does anyone still use them? Would anyone be interested in a few battles once I get mine made?

They sort of faded away, people lost interest. A few people still have them, me being one of them. I know Richter and Shinza still might have their best figurines. I say we form a clan for figurine lovers everywhere and try to get people back into it.

I know Sylphas had bought a Shorlen figurine, and someone recently bought the other figurine I had in the shop. Anaria is also a figurine player, and I think Hiriako might be getting into it.

I play with figurines. No one wants to battle me though. Not even Richter seems to anymore.

There are a lot of problems with figurines that make them way too expensive and difficult to get. I so rarely see anyone to fight against that I just leave my figurine in a stockroom until I decide to blow money on new figurines to pit it against.
Edit - Oh and Sarrasri, if your Charune is still under level 11 I may decide to have Chuchip fight him soon.

I know...I wish the skills for miniatures were a bit farther down. I'd love to get into it, but I don't plan to be Mythical at my tradeskill for a long time..it seems silly to spend money on what seems like a very simple dish when I'm a Master chef.
Anarias2006-12-01 01:59:02
A good load of the problems with making figurines would be gone if they just moved the skills down to somewhere around master rank and reduced the comms to only require one powerstone.

I noticed there were a few threads from a while ago with a lot of, in my opinion anyway, really good ideas to improve the whole concept. Were any of them implemented? I think it could really take off if it was a bit more of a fun hobby rather than an expensive chore to train and battle the figures.
Anarias2006-12-01 02:13:01
Nothing happened with any of the ideas.
Mire2006-12-01 02:21:46
What do all of your figurines look like? I know there's a Kethuru one, but I haven't had the opportunity to see many, and I'm debating how I should shape mine. I was considering Rheimos, the Magnagoran rabbit, a beggar or the captain that runs the ferry to Spectre Isle. Have any of these already been made? I'd hate to have a duplicate figurine, if I can avoid it.

Coming up with a really killer figurine concept can be tough. I wanted a Crow figurine with poison attacks but I don't know about it anymore since most figurines have cloaks that deflect poison breath. I like to choose really rare or unique things to model figurines after.

Crow's a good one to model. Charune's Crow figurine consistently beats his White Hart figurine.
In choosing a good model there are usually two or three themes people follow.
1. Something really, really strong or badass, e.g. Luciphage, Marani, Daevos, etc.
2. Something really, really weak for irony, e.g. a squirrel, a chicken, a sheep, etc.
3. Something "close" to your RP, e.g. a spouse, a city/commune figure (NPC and PC), a god, etc.

My figurine is of Charune. The best figurine I ever made, as it's beaten pretty much every opponent it's gone against. I had one of Nejii, but it kept getting beat up by a squirrel figurine so it crumbled.

I've got the most awesome figurine:
a figurine of a magnificent dragon wyrmling
--------------------------------------------------
Even barely hatched, this magnificent dragon is already one of the most dazzling
and beautiful creatures on the face of Lusternia. The brilliant scales sparkle
with an inner radiance, shifting colour like a chameleon and sparkling dazzling
displays of rainbows off the metal sheen. Two deep golden eyes shine with inner
fires, and one can almost imagine the spark of divine essence burning behind the
narrow slits that are the pupils. A long graceful neck gives way to a muscled
body and graceful tail and two majestic wings stretch from the back of this
magnificent creature. In all its splendour, one cannot help but imagine how
utterly magnificent and beautiful it will look when full grown.
It has 25 months of usefulness left.
It weighs about 31 pounds.

Sadly, my level 20+ Shinza figurine crumbled while I was away
I might be tempted to start again though, depending on how the powerstone market looks like at the moment.

I bought Shorlen because I was bored and had money to blow (my pack decayed, so I had to spend it all). I think he decayed.
Mire2006-12-01 04:29:48
I found powerstones for 1500 each.
And I've got a figurine made! He's only level 1, but hopefully that will change soon. Is anyone with a similarly leveled figurine up for a battle? Let me know here or in game and we can meet up.

If you're making figurines, be sure to buy used powerstones from enchanters or alchemists. Need to get rid of these and save the full ones!
