Timeslip throws you off equilibrium now (or it does when I hit it with psionics) so it should stop him from smacking you altogether.
When did that happen?

I feel bad for Malarious. He posted on forums asking for advice, only to have a group of people tell him to parry head and stance head... when he posted a log after dying to 4 crushes. If you have no idea what a crush looks like or how it functions, you likely shouldn't be posting advice. /minirant
=================================================
Now, this log tells several things.
1. Malarious, being an Aslaran, has a level 2 fire penalty (read: takes 20% more damage from fire)
2. Grom (from what I can tell) has elemental fire runes on his flails
However, that still doesn't explain how Grom exceeds Ixion's damage on me. I would say that there are two possibilities:
+ Have Grom's flails been capped? (I'm fairly sure they were forged after caps, so I will assume yes)
+ Grom is a Krokani, and thus possesses "native weapon" as a BC. What exactly does native weapon do? Up until now, I think most people assumed it just dealt with accuracy, but I'm think it may also play some role in damage/wound modification.

Yeah.. his damage is crazy. I went into my spar with him expecting it to be less than Malarious felt. It still hurt. A lot.
Clise2006-12-08 03:28:41
I only survived Grom by afflicting the hell out of him asap ... but that was a long long time ago when we sparred.

I've done some comparing, and most take more damage from him because everyone and their brother focuses on cutting armour rather than blunt. Next time I get in realms I'll compare with him on a single target.
Narsrim, what are your robes proofed for?

Way back when, while I was a Nihilist in open beta it didn't throw you off of anything. It was sort-of like amnesia. You got a notice that someone tried to attack you (useful if someone tried to summon you, since you got a name) but they could just spam their attack alias and hit you immediately. I'm not sure when the change happened, but it was at least a little while after beta closed.

QUOTE(Narsrim's Robes)
Made to fit the masculine form, these heavy black robes have no front
opening, being worn over the head. A twisting, branching pattern in gold
thread has been painstakingly embroidered over the robe, covering most
of the availiable surface; it stems symetrically from a single point on
the wearer's chest. Placed regularly on the dark fabric, entangled with
the pattern, are several iridescent opals.
It has 44 months of usefulness left.
It weighs about 3 pounds and 0 ounce(s).
It bears the distinctive mark of Narsrim.
It is protected against fire, cold, electricity and magic.
QUOTE
It offers the following defences:
Physical cutting: 73
Physical blunt: 63
Armour Status: 100
A richly embroidered black robe has no poisons or magical effects on it.
I don't know if that's enough of a difference though. I still think that native weapon has some hidden buff!
Ildaudid2006-12-08 13:10:19
Ixion does have a point, there are so few BC's that armor/robes are more coveted for their high Cutting and people don't worry as much about BC's
Until I forge me some Ixion style plate, I have 2 sets.... one for when I KNOW I am going up against a BC and the other set for when I am going up against Cutters.
But the hard thing is preparing for a BC, normally I just assume Grom doesn't want a piece of this hehe

That's when i was a nihilist too, and I haven't fought many of them one-on-one since then I guess. I thought it still worked that way.

10 points of armour is not insignificant, and stun is the best hindering one can give.
His damage swords are also slightly better than my own runed up.
Timeslip knocks you off full balance, has done so for a very long time, over two years if my memory serves me.

10 points of armour = 6+2/3 % of wounding reduction, and an extra 5% of damage reduction! That's not insignificant by any means.
Also, my fault for not diagnosing these crushes as crushes. I'll never trust Shamarah and Shorlen in combat matters again.
They suck in fighting anyway.
(just kidding )
