Hello. I would like to discuss the rogues a little. Do people without guild/city/commune have any chances of surviving in the world of Lusernia? Not counting the warriors with tracking, is there any way to be free?
1. Say, a nihilist transfers some power to a celestine - what kind of power the latter receives?
2. Powerplex Jewels give 5% reserves every month. What kind of power? If all of my reserves are Moonhart power, will this jewel product Moonhart power as well?

There aren't different kinds of power. Power is power, and if some skills say they require, for example, Moonhart Mother Tree's power, it means you have to be a member of Serenwilde to use them. Even if you fill up on power and then leave, you won't be able to use Serenwilde-specific feats (replace Serenwilde with city/commune you're in).
Rogues are basically tramps and vagabonds, who don't have an org affiliation for one reason or another, but rarely anyone takes them seriously - just like in real life. Rogues lose some of their PvE effectiveness and most (if not all) of PvP effectiveness, trackers being an exception, but even them have an easier time in a city/commune.
So, the price of freedom? Too high to pay if you ask me. Lusternia is very anti-rogue, and good! It's not that being in an organisation makes you a slave of any sort, you can be "free" even when belonging to one.
EDIT: Rogues can survive, and maybe even prosper (thanks to village quests mainly). But they can forget about PvP, they miss out most of politics, and people generally don't trust them.

Power doesn't work like that. There is no particular "type" of power, only the nexus you are linked to. You can fill up on power from the Moonhart, quit the commune, and still not be able to use that power if Moonhart/commune power is required.
The wording is a bit funny in regards to power.. I know it's somewhere.. But either way, I always found it odd how when using skills that require a certain type of power, you are not actually drawing from that power source... I could link on Astral, and simply because I'm a member of the commune/city (and not drawn the first bit of power from it yet), I can still use the skills that require that particular power type.. Confusing, isn't it? Makes sense? Not so much. It's just a way to enforce the strict four-way org hostilities thing going.
So, in a nut shell, if you're rogue, you're screwed (in regards to power).

The in-game explanation is that what matters is not the source of power, but rather your "spiritual link" (or some similiar New Age mumbo-jumbo) to your Nexus of Power that lets you perform the org-specific feats. For example you cannot create Undead as a non-Magnagoran because your bond to the Megalith isn't strong enough.

I don't know where you got that info from. I'm going to assume it's a general assumption, which is fine and dandy because I do them too. But anyway, as a matter of fact, my herb sales went through the roof once I went rogue. Heck, Serens were still buying from me, and now I had Celest to sell to. Whee. About PvP, yes, you're right. Depending on what skillsets you have, you'll likely end up as support should you decide to help a group in combat (smudges are nice every now and then.. too bad I get targetted far too quickly to use many of them). Politics.. eh, who really wants to be involved with that anyway.
Unknown2006-12-05 15:23:59
Well, the point of a rogue is that you're NOT helping other orgs. So you engage in PvP only as duels, or when someone jumps you. That kinda rules out supporting a group...
As for herb sales - well, I've never assumed they were much of an income anyway. Village quests give better money than ANY tradeskill, over time. Especially if you more-or-less know (or feel, call it sixth sense) when a quest is open for doing.
Politics can be fun.

And yet it takes absolutely nothing from the Megalith to perform that feat. Which documents are you refering to? HELP NEXUS? The point is that the game does not recognize power types. You can fill your reserves through a node, another person, a powerplex gem -anything besides the nexus- and still use skills that require that nexus. The whole spiritual jumbo is complete bs.. Unless of course, we're admitting to others controlling our spiritual links/etc. You know, in Lusternia's typical "conform or else" sort of way. A shame powerplex gems can't be attuned to certain power types (commune and city at the least).

Well, if you're a rogue who doesn't like civilization, then joining Mag and Celest is out of the question. Yet you could still sympathize for Celest against Mag.. or Mag against Celest.. or Seren against Glom.. etc.
That's if you like whoring honours/village quests.. I remember the Stewartsville one- it's _always_ in done mode. There's always someone timing it. A shame quests aren't on random timers once they're finished. What's the reward for that one? 5k? How often does it repop? If it's a few hours, then by far I can make more gold than that in the same amount of time (well, harvesting.. selling is a different issue).
Unknown2006-12-05 16:02:13
Just for the record, I've made more gold after leaving Celest then I ever made in the city. I'm a TK Aquamancer, so the only thing I'm really forfeiting by not being directly linked to the Pool is the ability to flood, so I can only demesne natural water, and I'm losing one of my demesne effects.
After leaving Celest I was able to whore both sides of the aslaran/krokani and gorgog/merian hunting areas. Then I do the spectre quest for more gold and a ton of karma. Because of my lack of ties, I can do whatever I want. Because of my skills, I'm still just as effective PvE and I wasn't ever that useful PvP, but I'm getting better.
Granted, I'm actually a citizen of Magnaora now, but since I'm a Magnagoran Aquamancer I'm still effectively a rogue, except I don't have to run to astral to get power.

Bah, join the Geos! Much better anyway.
As for making more gold, I haven't exactly been loaded since I became a rogue. Harvesting herbs isn't worth much, unless you can get sparkleberry. You can earn much more gold by getting better PvE skills (moondancers suck without drawdown!) and hunting gorgogs/merians/krokani/aslaran/astral/etc..

I'm too lazy to hit the quote button. But this is an answer to Zacc's post.
Nexus: it was written in here this very FORUM. Either by Lisaera or Estarra, before you even began to play Lusternia. I suggest performing a search (general or ideas, I forgot). I can do it by myself when I have the time if you want. Also, I suggest dropping the overly aggresive tone of your posts. STRONGLY suggest.
Village quests: Well, if all you do is Stewartsville, then yes - there's more money from herbs, true. But if you try to do every quest available (of course, being enemied limits your options - but rogues have that advantage that more often than not they are NOT enemied to anyone), there's always one to do. Especially the "harder" or "less lucrative" ones, like Delport or Shanthmark. Not to mention the smaller quests - even a retard can pick up chickens and give them to a coop. Easy 240-400 gold from EVERY village (excluding mining ones), and chickens reappear how often? Every 20-30 minutes? That's a lot of cash just from chicken, and I'm not even talking about cows, sheep, or rockeaters.

Wait, you can sell rockeaters?!?
Unknown2006-12-05 18:02:34
Rockeaters go to jewlers. I think it's just in the mining villages, but I know there's one in Angkrag.
And I'm working on joining the Geomancers. Random politics--coming from a person who's never online at the same time I am--are currently stonewalling me. (pun intended)

Yeah, to Jewelers. I know for sure in Estelbar and Shanthmark.

Why does it even HAVE to be a spiritual connection? Heck, just try TELEPORT NEXUS. There's a physical connection between you and it at all times (see conglutination), you just need to be able to sense it and manipulate it at some level.
Krellan2006-12-06 00:07:18
okay i just want to say as an herbalist all my life, herbs is terrible and sucks completely except sparkleberry. and merbloom could be good actually. selling anything under 10 per just isn't worth the effort or time. It's annoying boring and lame. sparkleberries are way bettre than any village quest if you sell at the right price. I sell at 40 per and harvest about 55 a minute. it's over 2k a minute. and i know it's expensive but people still buy it.
As for surviving as a rogue. I think I've been a rogue around 6 months or so and I'm doing fairly well. I could bash if i wanted, but it doesn't suit my style since I'd have to sip. power is easy, i can flood astral or gather essence and get that linked to myself. i've got 90% reserves and I've been raiding constantly still, either by myself or with groups.
Narsrim is also doing really well as a rogue, but i'm just saying that cause i don't know who requiem.dot is though he sounds like narsrim.

Because that is how the world is set up....
And that is how most things are explained in game.

Well, spiritual connections explain many things, but in this case, the world is set up with a *physical* connection between you and your Nexus-- the aether strand, which you can access from anywhere on the same plane.
I guess the spiritual part would be the attuning to make that *your* nexus, but it's very much a physical and tangible part of Lusternia.

You might not be making those profits after letting everyone know about it.
Thats something you keep secret between yourself and your wallet.
