Think armbands could not require having to take off your armour/robes to use them? Rather annoying to get an enchanted armband that you can't use in public because of the robes/cloak/shirt you have to remove first to rub it.
Also, because I don't feel like starting another topic for this. Drinking whiskey should regen a (very small) amount of ego. The ties to real life and why are quite obvious, and it wouldn't be unbalancing if the benefit was small enough that drinking any sizeable amount got your character drunk.
So in summary: Why must we strip to wear/remove/use armbands! And bromide? Ha! Real men drink whiskey when they want to feel better about themselves.

You can wear armbands over robes, no? Thought this was changed like a year ago.

If you want to have alcohol restore ego, there should be a threshold in every character where, after a certain point they are so intoxicated that the influencee refuses to acknowledge them. The key is to balance being drunkenly brazen without being offensive and appearing as a dolt.

Fine, but also when you're drunk, your ego attacks don't do as much

Got the same problem, bought a lovely armband only to find out I have to remove my robes to be able to rub it. Made an allias for it I can quickly do in a room when nobody is watching, it's kinda embaressing Don't see why you shouldn't be able to rub it while it's under your robes, you could just roll up your sleeve a bit after all.

Armbands kind of make sense, but hairpins? The mind boggles. Probably a bug. Well, not technically a bug, but a coding oversight.

Sure, if you'll be happy in a crap job earning bugger all money.
Anyway, in my opinion.. no where does good grammar matter more than in a Text based game. I constantly make value judgements about people by how well they spell - usually these are borne out and validated by longer association - but I'm sure that occasionally I mistake intelligent people for stupid for that reason, and that's a shame.
