Just a brief plea for some kind of artifact runes that will make armour non decay. That way you can a)customise the description and not lose the credits for doing that when it decays and we have it for weapons so there is no justification for not having them for armour. If the runes were +5/+5/+5 (sharp, blunt, durability), +10/+10/+10 etc then even better but thats no essential.
Shayle2006-12-13 15:37:22
And shields...please? Pretty please?

That would make trans forging insane, if I forged a 109/109 plate, or even a 114/85 plate then added +10 stat mods to it, that would make warriors tankier than before, not to mention if you don't want your plate to decay become a trans forger and it wont.

Shayle, you know you can get a shielding rune, stick it to whatever you use and it becomes a 55/55 shield which is much higher than any shield a trans forger can forge for you, our max is like 39/39 or 40/40 for a shield.

Which... doesn't negate the fact that there's this rather pretty butterfly shield which has this annoying habit of vanishing from her hands, and (as far as I know) only one person is in the cartel with it as a design.
At least, I'm assuming that's why she's asking for it.

Can't you just buy the shielding rune, and stick it on the shield?

No. It can only go on athames, staves, cudgels, and symbols.
Hazar2006-12-13 18:04:22
I'm pretty sure they've said somewhere armor should always decay as a matter of balance...just too lazy to look for it.

They have at least inferred that in the past, yeah.
Arundor2006-12-13 20:07:33
I like this. I'd love a way to make armour permanent and reset. Fullplate is already decay-proof, but it can still be stolen. And decay-proof is not the same as permanent because it can still be accidently smelted (or purposely smelted if stolen).
Help 19.13:
Or just change this so that *weapons* cannot be made non-decay or reset, but armour/shields can.

WHAT CANNOT BE CUSTOMISED

* Forged items may never be made non-decay or reset. (Use weapon runes for

Actually, don't I own that cartel now?
And here, I propose the following rune for armour.
Great rune of etching. - 150cr
Dwarven runes etched upon your armour will no longer fade as long as this rune is attatched.
Problem solved!
(we need tailoring runes/patches too!)

Of course he does! Is there anything in the basin that Richter doesn't own? If we really did have a RICH WHO, he would be at the top.

You carefully study a forging design.
Item: Shield Type: Greatshields Org: Revolution
Commodities: steel 10 silver 20 turquoise 4
IMPORTANT: The main noun of this item MUST use this name: SHIELD
Appearance:
a butterfly-winged shield
Dropped:
Carelessly left behind, a silver butterfly-winged shield sits here.
Examined:
Beautifully polished silver outlines four large turquoise gemstones in
the form of spread butterfly wings. Only a foot wide and just over a
foot high it could be seen by the larger races as a nice piece for a
necklace. Crafted to cover the forearm of the smaller wielder, this
shield seems fashionable as well as purpose orientated. Large steel
latches line the backside of the shield, with a grip near the very top
for maximum control. Forged with a special person in mind this shield
glows with an inner light, as though the coals of the forge still warm
it.

I can't say I like this idea, unless it would be a VERY small increase (+2/+2, +4, +6 maybe?).
Why? It'd make fullplate warriors with runes almost completely immune to wounding. I'm not sure if you realise, but armour is the ONLY thing that affects wound reduction - but in a much greater percent than it affects damage reduction.
//this sentence didn't make much sense. Let's rewrite it.
+10 to an armour's stat gives more wounding reduction than a +10 to weapon's precision gives as a boost. Even +15 for weapons I think.
Just make armour artifactable in some way, if you ask me.

Richter had a good suggestion.
An artifact that makes dwarven runes last longer.
Arundor2006-12-15 18:58:01
I also like Richter's suggestion.
In my opinion, we don't need a way to make armour stronger. We need a way to make it permanent/reset.

If armour had the same rule as weapons, that combined stats can't be more than X.. then they could have a nice artifact for longer decay times on dwarven runes (pernament runes I don't like)

Well, make them a RL week or something then.
