Blindness - What to do?

I just graduated from newbie status, but apparently am still quite the newbie.

I attacked a flying fish, as it was the only fish that I can handle at my strength. It blinded me and now not only can I not see, but I cannot sense anyone from my guild, city, or anyone at all for that matter. When I do a "WHO" it says it's only me.

I have nothing with me to cure blindness, I am not on the primal plane, I can't ask for help on a channel because it says no one is there. What do I do?!!

Please, please help!

Will it go away after a time?

I now know I need mrytle, but that doesn't help me now!

Thanks.

To cure blindness, you can eat faeleaf or (this is the one you can probably do) APPLY HEALTH TO HEAD...

And yes, on the Nexus World, you can't sense people on other planes...

First of all,

You could probably ask for help on guild channel, too. And apply health to head if you can.

Blindness can be cured in the aforementioned ways (apply health to head, eat faeleaf), but also by eating myrtle, if you can't find any faeleaf about.

Well yes but if she (?) is stuck in Nexus Worlds nad has no heatlh.. either find your way out while blind and ask on channel or you'll have to ask ooc for help.

I've always found it funny that an area that is good for newbie hunting (and at least right now is pretty much only useful for newbies) is totally cut of from everything. At least GNT should work imo, then Zynna could ask for help.. and everyone else who gets into that situation.

Yeah, the problem was I didn't have anything with me, and I was in the Nexus. I had just lost my grace of innocence and I hadn't yet bought any healing items. I figure if I only attacked what was very weak, I would be okay. When I considered the flying fish, it was much weaker than I, so I attacked it. But it had a great defense!

I had no way of contacting anyone IC or OOC to get help. I tried to 'TELL SPINDLE' but I couldn't even sense them. (Not that I was officially a newbie anymore).

But, in the end I was rescued by a God and it ended up turning into a cool RP and being a lot more fun than if I had never gotten blinded. So it worked out. And the scare motivated me to become a Healer so that I am never caught unawares and I can return the favor by healing others.

But there should definitely be a failsafe, should the Gods not be paying as close attention as they were!

This is what we're curious about. Why?

The Nexus Worlds are Aetherbubbles. Aether Bubbles block -all- communication. Even if you have Broadcast.

It's best not to move anywhere without potions of healing (to remove blindness/deafness) and mending (broken limbs). That saves a lot of trouble.

Healing is a nice utility choice, helps saving on herbs and potions. Not that useful in PvP though.

Oh I know the reason behind aetherbubbles being 'locked off' from all forms of communication. I'm just saying that for an area that is suitable for newbies.. this could turn into a huge problem. Just like the one Zynna had.. and it apparently took divine interference to get her out.

To prevent that GNT could be made to go through, after all that channel does for all planes right now too I think. I personally just hate the idea of a Seeker being stuck on the Nexus World and no one even -knowing- about it.. because how should they communicate?

Real ather bubbles aren't that much of a problem, since newbies aren't quite that likely to get there, and if they do then not on their own. Everyone can enter the Nexus Worlds though, and quite easily too.
Zalandrus2006-12-16 17:14:36
I believe (no way of testing this right now) that order tells can still go through, even if you're in aetherspace or an aetherbubble...orders are magical like that tongue.gif

I'm glad you enjoyed it! I know Terentia and I both had a blast.

It was fun, even though I bungled a few things.

Yeah. I asked about allowing people to communicate the day the Nexus Worlds came out because I saw how easy it would be for someone to just get stuck there, no way to communicate, no way to ask for help...

However, that's not the way GNT currently works. GNT only broadcasts as far as your Planar skill lets you, but it doesn't have the (From Plane) bit attached. Novices can hear me on Astral, but I can't hear them from the Elementals.

I was just asking for a way to allow people to speak on CT from their own aetherbubble-- after all, it's like, inside the Nexus. There *is* a connection between the two. Allow aether communication to travel through those areas. Just only let it work on your own bubble, not anybody else's (or any neutral ones).

I'm still not sure what use Broadcast even is, if many of the new areas that will be going in in the future are aetherbubbles. You can have trans planar and still not contact anyone? Bleh.

Have to agree. Really dislike the concept of aetherbubbles, and the fact that events are becoming very aether-oriented. It makes sense, they want people to use this feature, but... it's somewhat of a nuisance just going out flying, and if you step onto an aetherbubble, you're cut off from *everybody*. For no real reason, as far as I can tell, because if you step onto the ship that's docked there you can suddenly speak again...

Much wub.gif for the recent aether-less event. happy.gif

Order aethers allow you talk while someone is piddling around in aetherspace. Orders ftw!
