So why must every out of the ordinary thing come to the forums?
So folks who can't log into the game for some reason can know what's going on?
Just as viable a question is "Why read threads that bother you?"

I amaze myself sometimes... I fought a couple hundred of the creatures for an hour or two, only to go to work and come back realizing I had NO ARMOUR ON. Just wow, that's about the dumbest mistake ever.
Wow... Ixion really is indestructable!

For those who can't log in- all the 'minds' of the Basin (Marinus, Valaza, Etil'ck Arthr'art, etc.) met with everyone who wanted in the library forum. Theories came up, and it was decided there would be groups of people to research the anatomy of the serpents, the possibility of raising a shield around the Nexus Worlds, and finding more properties. Miska, being the most neutral, but fairly inexperienced, was elected the leader.

I can't log in because I'm at work, and now my boss is keeping me even later! What's happening in there?
Furien2006-12-21 21:29:04
We're just taking all the serpent bodies to Miska and the rest of the scientists to dissect. They hope to find out how the creatures get here, how they're intelligent, etc.
Cairam2006-12-21 21:55:09
And they do that whole spiel each time?
Furien2006-12-21 22:11:21
It changes. Over time, Miska gets better:
Miska, Mistress of the Forum exclaims, "I think I've got the hang of it now!"
Miska, Mistress of the Forum wields a scalpel deftly, slicing firmly through the
corpse of a serpentine creature. She winces slightly as it emits a foul, fetid
odour that permeates the forum, but Charestu Theth and Archmage Marinus nod
approvingly over her shoulder.
Valaza i'Xiia marks down notations in a book, sneering snidely at Marinus as
Miska favours her with a soft smile and dissects the corpse tidily. She quickly
points to various indiscernible organs as the scientists crowd around her, their
heads bowed together in hushed whispers.
Miska, Mistress of the Forum says, "I think we're making progress."
The Prouep sisters break out into a fitful argument, glaring and pointing
accusingly at one another, and Miska shakes her head softly.

have succeeded in developing a means to stop these invasions! By raising

researchers have determined this could have a positive side effect upon those
tied to the nexus. Well done!"

I thought they might be adding Nexus World constructs, but no one likes to hear that sort of thing ahead of time.
I wish there were some power minsters around so we could see what had been added.

I assume it was once per city/commune, but..yeah, it was a little redundant. When I saw the four shouts in a row, I at least expected the words to be a little different (specifically directed at one particular organization).

You never know, mag may not want to waste money to build the thing, thinking the creatures make good offerings, and still die first!

Pft, when they release the other missing/frozen in time places the others will still be open. It will just be -very- interesting about who sides with who

Subj: A Meeting of Minds
As the invasion of the serpentine creatures continued to rise in
intensity, they began breaking out of the nexus worlds and onto the
prime plane. Once being released into the Basin of Life, they
immediately headed towards the Sea of Despair in vast swarms, leaving a
path of destruction in their wake. Once there, most of them vanished
within the dark waters. While the cities and communes bravely fought the
swarms, they could but only slow the tide of the invasion. Speculation
was running wild while remnants of an ancient prophesy were discovered,
heralding the end of everything.
Convinced that a solution could be found, Miska the Mistress of the
Forums asked the greatest minds in the Basin to come meet and work
together. Many answered her plea, including the Archmage Marinus from
the Arysian Isles, Indiau Eepex from the Mesa Complex in the Skarch
Desert, Valaza i'Xiia from the Presidio of the Damned, Etil'ck Arthar'rt
from the Arthar'rt Observatory, Charestu Thech from the dracnari nomad
camp, and the four zi'Prouep sisters Adushoc, Croobuk, Edathic and Fiik.
Such a diverse group was difficult to coordinate, as many arguments
broke out and egos clashed. Finally, it was decided that Miska would
lead these brilliant scientists to research the possibility of building
shields in the nexus worlds. They required hundreds and hundreds of the
creatures to dissect and examine to find out exactly what type of
resonance field would be needed to be raised to repel them from the
Aetherways.
As the invasions continued, the people of the Basin battled fiercely,
taking the bodies of the creatures to Miska as she learned many
techniques of autopsy. As the days wore on, their research bore fruit
and they discovered a technique to repel the creatures from the nexus
worlds.
Though costly, the communes and cities began the process to raise these
mighty constructs, which had beneficial side effects for their members
who traveled in the Aetherways. Thus, it appears that whatever
catastrophe was prophesied to occur has been diverted and life returns
to normal in Lusternia.
