You reach down and carefully harvest a sprig of cactus weed.

I was harvesting it in the Skarch, down to 10. I don't know if I made it there or not. It isn't in hibernation, either. It's happened..once before, with kafe, but that too wasn't in hibernation. What happened?

Edit: Suppose I should say, ALL the weed in that room poofed when this happened.

Happens all the time. I don't have much of an explanation for why it dies when it does.

Careful.. Xenthos will tell you that this is a figment of your imagination. According to him, it will never die outside of Hibernation.

I have never ever had something like that happen to me before, unless of course I harvested it down to 0. The normal death of a plant wouldn't be triggered by harvesting (and plus, there was weed left to harvest after the message was received). So I'm guessing an accidental overharvest.

I've seen this numerous times and its not overharvesting that does it. The first time I saw it happen I was harvesting in a room with 60 weed. When I got it down to 32 the rest shriveled and died. It was three months after the peak month too.

I don't quite understand how you'd harvest weed after it all died out though Shaddai. What happened there?

I don't know, seems buggy. They both happened at the exact same time, but the messages may have fired differently.

That's normal. For some reason, it happens with powerstones crumbling while enchanting, plants being harvested down to zero, et cetera - the 'break' message comes before the action that 'breaks' it.

Oh right. I remember that happening with powerstones when I was enchanting now. So that explains the message ordering but leaves the question of why plants die out when they're not hibernating.

It's never, never happened to me except when someone else wandered into the room and started harvesting.

Though if you did a "look" right after it all blew away with thirdeye up and saw nobody-- having 32 of it disappear *when you pick* isn't it "going into hibernation," or "dying out," it's 31 herbs vanishing and you then picking the last one.

This isn't a phenomenon that's been reported anywhere at all afaik-- others have suggested seeing a room die out outside of hibernation (here's looking at you, Fallen ), but *half* of it vanishing? It just seems odd. It doesn't even do that during hibernation, as far as I'm aware. The entire room just dies out if it fails the check.

If it's happening to you a lot, check PLANTS every time you harvest. If more than one is vanishing per harvest, WHO HERE. If nobody's there, BUG it (and I would be very interested in seeing the logs, personally).

Maybe someone else was harvesting in there too.
If he had yesod up and you havent been using LOOK you wont see if someone is harvesting or not.
So if you set your system to harvest down to 10 and somene else got 10 in same time you 2 would have harvest all herbs.

I make sure to know who's in the area wherever I go to harvest. There wasn't anyone else in the room.

I bugged it the first time it happened to me.

Edit - Come to think of it I can't remember seeing this happen with any other herb but weed. I dont know if that's anything.

Actually it happened to my alt once too. And it was weed to. I was thinking that someone else was harvesting with me in same spot. I had no thirdeye or scan so i have no way to check if there was anyone there.

I've never seen this happen, but then I don't usually harvest weed either.

I think the weed is smoking itself

I've seen this happen with various herbs, when there were still plenty in the room, not hibernating (or even an adjacent month), and no one else harvesting. It does happen, and I think it is a bug.
