Subj: Ascension Updates

Ascension Challenge Awards: Because of concerns that players would be
going for the "prizes" of the ascension challenges rather than for the
ultimate goal of ascending to godhood, we have decided not to award
permanent blessings to the winners. Each winner will receive an honour
and a unique gift from me. The gift may or may not have a power, but
that will not be revealed until after the final challenge.

Concerning the Ascended God, please be aware that it is not a role for
everyone and so think carefully before going for the gold (so to speak).
The Ascended God will not be hold any administrative powers or have any
part in the game design or implementation of Lusternia. Rather, the
Ascended God will solely be focused on running an order and developing
plots and/or events regarding his or her role. It is definitely not for
someone who likes bashing or PKing and the social interaction with other
players will likewise change (you can't be buddies with old chums and
still be an effective god). That said, the role will be many and
exciting opportunities, especially for those who want to develop
storylines and events or just develop a divine persona that will enrich
the realm.

We will be updating the challenges on an ongoing basis. Below are some
updates to Chaos, War and Beauty challenges.

Seal of Chaos: Though a hamster hunt sounds like a simple enough affair,
there are a few twists which will be revealed at the hunt. Just note
that holding the Purple Hamster is not as easy as it may appear. There
will also be second and third place prizes for those who hold the most
hamsters.

Seal of War: Four Wargames will be held with teams of 3. After all four
are won, the winning four teams will have a final wargame against each
other to determine the overall winning team. Once the final winning team
is decided, the team members are given a choice. Decide among them who
they support for Ascension and who will take the Seal, or enter a
Free-For-All and the winner of the FFA will be the winner of the Seal of
War.

Seal of Beauty: The Trademaster of each trade cartel may submit one
design that has been accepted (either public or cartel-specific), on
behalf of the cartel. The artist of that design must be specified as it
needn't be the Trademaster. For example, Trademaster Tom of the Lollipop
cartel may submit a design and specify Jane as the artist. If that
design wins, Jane would be considered the winner of the challenge. To
enter, the Trademaster should message the Charites with the Cartel's
entry and specify who the artist is at that time. The winner of this
challenge will receive the Seal of Beauty.

I guess the combat trials won't be the absurdly funny comedy of errors and griefing it was last time. I still don't think this is a good idea though - three person instakill combos will dominate.

Beauty, I really don't like the change to. This turns it into far more of a favouritism contest amoung the players, and vastly favours people like Richter and Exarious who have ten cartels each.

I'm still confused about beauty... lets say I have an old design I made for the ur'guard 100 years ago.... is it impossible to submit that?

Or what if there is a public design we made that we like, those are no goes also?

If you made it, get the trademaster of the cartel it was submitted through to use it as their submission.

Ahaa! that makes sense... so instead of one submission per person, there is one submission per cartel. Sucks for people who made designs in cartels that belong to people who are going for beauty themselves

I don't like the change to beauty either, I am no longer in any of Exarius's cartels, and I doubt he will submit anything I ever created. Because he might want to submit his own works too. So that cuts out how much of the player base because they can only submit 1 design?

So thats atleast 82 submissions. Those 82 submissions will atleast be filtered a bit by the player community. I can't imagine what the 300 submissions would be like if each person was just able to submit something.

So, under the new system for beauty, when is the last day we can submit a design and still have it approved by the deadline? I don't like this ambiguity, I was expecting to have two more weeks to write one

Well, that was for the old system, I thought. It normally takes 1-2 IC years for a design to get approved.

These are supposed to be the best of the best pieces you're submitting, they shouldn't need fixing up grammatically or any other way. Atleast that's how I feel.

..seems to suggest that the gods can't join in in normal pk/bashing/trade/interaction anymore and is basically a real god with an order who basically sits there not doing much different to what players see gods doing anyway. And to be honest I'm not exactly sure why anyone would want that.

So does this mean that if we designed an article years ago that we were planning to submit, but have since changed trades and sold the cartel, we cannot enter that item?

Instead, we have to ask the new owner to forgo their own entry with ours in its place?

That seems a little... crazy.

Edit: And surely this doesn't mean that someone with 10 cartels gets 10 entries?

The real gods do issues, administer guides, process envoy reports, approve craft designs, sort bug reports, fix typos, build areas, and THEN get to RP.

Well, without the blessing, it's "wouldn't you support me as an ascended god, Mr. Trademaster, sir?" I think that's the purpose. First, you curry favor. Richter and Ialie get to skip that step, since they themselves want to ascend. For the rest of the world, it's a matter of both having a worthwhile submission and convincing someone else to state your case.
