To be honest the whole ...
..seems to suggest that the gods can't join in in normal pk/bashing/trade/interaction anymore and is basically a real god with an order who basically sits there not doing much different to what players see gods doing anyway. And to be honest I'm not exactly sure why anyone would want that.

Tully is I believe level 40 or something and has been in this place for like, ever!

Same with Richter. I've yet to see Richter fight or bash at all. Verithrax and Arix are also there... Tzekelkan too... Ialie does Bash a lot, but she was bashing to get to Demigod so she would have a "cult" or some crazy poopoo like that...

There are a lot of people who actually just Roleplay and do nothing else

((I would add Noola, but she ain't turning into Ildaudid's daughter as fast as I want ninja.gif ))

Well, without the blessing, it's "wouldn't you support me as an ascended god, Mr. Trademaster, sir?" I think that's the purpose. First, you curry favor. Richter and Ialie get to skip that step, since they themselves want to ascend. For the rest of the world, it's a matter of both having a worthwhile submission and convincing someone else to state your case.

Meh, well... if most of the prizes (and particularly the big one) are essentially for winning popularity and currying favour, I guess its not worth returning for. I was sorely tempted to try for a while there. tongue.gif

I've never wanted to play a popular character over an interesting or idealistic one, so I guess this isn't for me! (Not that I would have won anyway, I know, I know.)

Thats my point. Its a totally different world, your not free to interact and roleplay any more your now a god with a job of developing story lines etc which you may or may not be involved in, now richter I know likes to trade, as a god it seems he can't do that anymore and so on if you seem my meaning, I'm not seeing the attraction for roleplayers, pvpers, bashers or anyone who plays the game, I do see an attraction for people who want to be story tellers but as I see it, its going to be a contest between people who enjoy playing the game who enjoy pvp/bashing/roleplaying, I'm not seeing a contest of storytellers though. If you know what I mean.

The point of ascending is to be a God... being a God your duty will be based mostly on RPing with your Order!

ANNOUNCE NEWS #696
Date: 12/29/2006 at 21:24
From: Estarra, the Eternal
To : Everyone
Subj: Ascension Updates

Ascension Challenge Awards: Because of concerns that players would be
going for the "prizes" of the ascension challenges rather than for the
ultimate goal of ascending to godhood, we have decided not to award
permanent blessings to the winners. Each winner will receive an honour
and a unique gift from me. The gift may or may not have a power, but
that will not be revealed until after the final challenge.

Concerning the Ascended God, please be aware that it is not a role for
everyone and so think carefully before going for the gold (so to speak).
The Ascended God will not be hold any administrative powers or have any
part in the game design or implementation of Lusternia. Rather, the
Ascended God will solely be focused on running an order and developing
plots and/or events regarding his or her role. It is definitely not for
someone who likes bashing or PKing and the social interaction with other
players will likewise change (you can't be buddies with old chums and
still be an effective god). That said, the role will be many and
exciting opportunities, especially for those who want to develop
storylines and events or just develop a divine persona that will enrich
the realm.

That's why I thought it'd be great for Gwylifar since he already doesn't do the things he'd have to give up, and doesn't have the connections with people he'd have to give up. Too bad about the contest. smile.gif

Ahaa! that makes sense... so instead of one submission per person, there is one submission per cartel. Sucks for people who made designs in cartels that belong to people who are going for beauty themselves smile.gif

Tch, Attai will so take the Beauty contest tongue.gif

Gold is a petty mortal creation. I could forgo trade, because I'd never need it again.

On another note, don't people with multiple cartels get multiple chances to win Beauty? Not that I'm complaining, but it seems a bit odd. Now I have go to through my cartels and see if I've ever submitted anything (as I think I'm the only person to own a bunch of cartels they themselves cannot run).

Also, I'm going to have to find some capable partners for the wargames. I suppose I'll enter it, I wasn't planning on it before. I'll have to make it worth someone's while. tongue.gif

Lastly, I was planning on submitting a design before the deadline, but now if we have to have new ones accepted through the normal means, it worries me a bit. Wonder if we can get any confirmation on the process.
Noola2006-12-30 05:38:00
I'm kind of sad about the change cause the Beauty Seal was the one competition I felt even slightly confident about. I mean, I'm going to try for more of them and all, and hope I get one, but I felt fairly good about Beauty - and now I think this change has demolished my chances.

But who knows! I'm still gonna try! laugh.gif
Richter2006-12-30 05:44:51
Actually, I feel less confidant too, knowing that two great trademasters are getting multiple designs in...

Richter2006-12-30 08:18:53
Well that had nothing to do with friends, it was a business deal. Hiring two goons to fight with me, as I don't fight, or know any people who do besides my inactive brother.

Oh, well, bad choice of words on my part then. I mean, it's becoming all about who can buy the most support with gold and shiny things.

I think it's a little nice in some way that the final event is regulated by something requiring people to get lots of support for it, it isn't -that- unexpected that some of the seal events would involve getting help rather than relying on entirely personal (but IG/mechanical) merits.

Not sure that that's a good thing, but it doesn't seem like a really bad one either.

Chaos: run around and find a hamster, presumably alone
War: fight with other people (sure, you can hire people in this one)
Justice: debate contest, alone
Nature: Scavenger hunt, might be able to pay someone
Knowledge: quiz, with teams of... one
Beauty: you've got to get someone else (unless you own a cartel) to submit something that you made
Life: you save denizens, note that -you- save denizens
Death: kill denizens, see above
Harmony: influence denizens, not aware of any way someone can assist or team with you
Ascension: a posse defends you in a PK fest, and in order to pay a sizeable group, you'd have to have more money than any player has

Not trying to be argumentative, but I'm really going to have to disagree with that statement. Most of this stuff is all about you, as it should be. You, and the kind of support you can gain.

Well I think there is a trademasters post that announced they hadn't actually decided how beauty would be handled so you can't really say it was changed just peoples interpretation was wrong
