I find it slightly uncomfortable that there are a few people who seem -very- against me. I don't find myself or my character to be completely disagreeable in any way, and even in my confrontations, people seem to not be entirely put off.

It's more that you seem so sure you deserve and will get this position, when many people doubtless think that there are better. It's not that you'd be terrible, it's that you wouldn't be the best, and it's slightly irritating to hear you act like you are and that all this stuff is fixed against you by needing PKers (or whatever.)

1. I don't believe I deserve the position. I believe I would be very good at it, and want it very much. Boo on me for that, I suppose.

2. I don't act like I believe I'm the best. I also remember supporting Kaervas for one of the seals. I also like some of the contestants very much, and am starting to like some of the others that this competition is allowing me to get to know.

3. I've not said it was fixed against me. I've said that it was an odd way to select an RP god, an opinion that has been echoed by a -large- percentage of people who have given an opinion.

Can anyone else give me a reason that's based off of more than either rumors or baseless speculation?

That's not really "baseless speculation", unless you were referring to something else. It seemed like you wanted to know why from your perspective people are "against" you on this. I just told you a few possible reasons; regardless of what you think you act like, that's how you're coming off to me and probably more than just me. If you don't really want to know you probably shouldn't ask.

I did want to know, I just wasn't prepared for such BS answers.

If it's BS, you should pay more attention to how you're acting. You don't always give off the impression you want to if you're careless. Rather than acting all indignant and ignoring it, just think about it.
Richter2007-01-16 06:29:07
Being indignant is a byproduct of many things, such as being disliked for reasons I'm only partially aware of. But indeed I will think on it.

Well said, I completely agree.

(And I quite like Richter as a player and a character, don't get me wrong. I merely can't get past the sense of self-aggrandizement above any other concern, which is just a personal thing.)

To be honest, I wish that the final challenge be declared somewhat OOC, or something, but I know that won't happen. Unfortunately now my support is conflicted ICly, which is frustrating to me because I may have to just opt to not support anyone at all.

Uggh... Imperian suffers from too much OOC stuff like that. I want it 100% IC.

Personally, I would hope that if someone gets the position and needs OOC help, than they can get it, and be very good at what they are trying to do.
Unknown2007-01-17 21:45:17
So far, who do we have who've won a seal?

This is definitely the case.
Shorlen2007-01-17 21:55:14
If you want an honest answer, well, I have nothing against Richter OOCly, but really, I don't think he makes decisions based on IC, RP situations and motivations. Given what I've heard of his interaction with Glomdoring and Glomdoring leadership, he just doesn't seem the sort who would make a good RP god.

On that note, I'm not terribly keen on Shamarah either, given that he considers Skype to be a perfectly good IC communication tool. The biggest problem I have with our current admins are the ones who use OOC communication tools to give away IC info (or OOC info they're not supposed to share). Everyone else who appears to be going for Ascended, I feel would do a wonderful job.
Ildaudid2007-01-17 22:00:44
I at this point in time would actually like to give it a shot, imagine all the fun I can have with a Elder God / Ascended God war!!! There I could RP out a whole cool battle with the immortal bane of Ildaudid's existence and maybe actually get to know the player, and work out a kick ass RP thing between the two of us.

Since it already has a prelude to it, it wouldn't be hard to get something really neat RP wise started. And since it wouldnt be a city vs city or commune vs city thing in a manner of speaking, it would end up being a follower vs follower war. Which would make it less tense on the org leaders who would worry about having to be caught up in a war like that....

Wow, it really does have some neat RP potential smile.gif

Problem is winning a damn seal..... couldn't submit for beauty since I didn't have a pre approved design. And only 2 or 3 are left I think, which influencing denziens will definately go to the high cha people, and death will probably be grabbed by a demigod since they are tankier and can bash so much quicker.

What kind of 'denizens' are killable for the death one? And is it just number of dead things or does the size count too? If you kill 1000 rats, will it not count as good as killing 50 astral creatures? And for that matter, how does one 'save' a denizen in a measurable way? Those two seals confuzzle me.
Hazar2007-01-17 23:03:50
I think Ildaudid would make a very interesting Ascended God.

As it is, I'm rooting for Kaervas. He's a candidate I can support IC and OOC.

Wait, wait... what?

I must have been invisible for the last two years, or perhaps you've confused me with someone else. How in god's name do people come up with this stuff? I don't make decisions based on IC, RP situations and motivations? Holy crap. Who are you to say something like that, and furthermore, what kind of a basis do you have for that? I don't recall ever speaking to you in game, with the exception of the wargames.

I'd really like to laugh hear about those reasons.

Lastly, what about my interaction with glomdoring and the glomdoring leadership? You mean, things you've heard about ooc? I'd like to say (and I hope that at least Xenthos will agree) that the strife with the Glomdoring leadership has been a fantastic opportunity to roleplay and develop my character.

And you people wonder why I get defensive.
Catarin2007-01-18 03:55:21
Er...I don't know Richter or you the player and I'm just speaking for myself here but seeing someone get this agitated over relatively mild comments regarding critical views of their RP doesn't really make me think that person would last 10 minutes as a god with the abuse that gets piled on them. Especially a god that's ascending from a player and doesn't even have an aura of mystery to protect them.

Just a thought in case that's not the impression you were trying to give.
Verithrax2007-01-18 04:00:32
Given how Richter's reaction is generally about as polite and mature as the reaction of the average godhead to having their RP criticized (Although, Richter's roleplay hasn't been critiqued as much as its existence doubted) I think he'd do fine.

Bingo.

I'm halfway done with writing my personal history right now. If anyone thinks that anything was -ever- made on an ooc basis (and we've still yet to see examples!), I believe that should explain it.
