I'm going to have to steal this thread for my questions too.
I've got a little over 700 credits coming, and can't decide what to get with them. A lot of people have recommended a rune of absorbtion, but I'm also thinking of gloves of mastery (I'm an enchanter), or maybe just saving them toward something like a cameo. A gem might also be nice, or one of the new circlets. I don't have any pipes yet, but I could get an arti for 500 credits or so and get pipes...
Suggestions?

buy the small things you need first then see how much you have left over, and what you want with it.
Its very hard to buy artifacts but in the end I find you have to decide for yourself. (even though I ask all the time, I never get the answers I like)

I always prefer to focus on skills first, but there are definitely artifacts that have greater benefits, especially when compared with skills you may never use.
Make a shopping list of artifacts and their costs. Sort it by priority (or cost) and if you still want the same top items a week or so later, buy them!

Rune of absorbtion is worth those credits. Pipes arent too expensive too, and cus off spam in a fight a bit.
Other then that Claoking Gem is sweet!

I always liked my shield rune.

Ok here are the results of my test
: = ration of wounding to precision
+w = additional wounding from lowest hit
+p = addition precision from lowest precision weapon
Its seems to not exactly be linear, but its pretty darn close.
If you have 137 precision weapon, adding 5% wounding would be less of an increase than adding 10 points of precision. (five percent ads 8 wounding where 10 points ads 10 or 11) But with a 235 weapon, 13 wounding is %5 but adding 10 points of precision only seems to increase the wounding by 11 or 12 points.
It seems clear to me however that at the upper end, adding 15% wounding is more than you can get with +15 stat increase in precision. But every 10 points seems to be about %5 increase roughly. Someone correct me if my math is wrong.

Awesome test. May I steal this post for the newbie guide I'm working on?
Also, is there any similar test for damage on weapons? If I want to rune my pvp sword I stand to lose tons of damage on it.. so I'd like to see if its worth it.

Alright, threadjacking this for the bards, what advice can someone give me for a Merian Cantor? Do we still have the +3 con, dex items here?

No, thank god.
There are runes that boost your max health, mana and ego though.
Tenebrae2007-04-17 19:01:44
They existed though. Look at the HELP ARTIFACTS, and there is:
frequently, which means they cannot be loaned out, or stolen(!),
for very long. Some only work for the owner. They never decay. They cannot
be changed to reset to anyone else's inventory, so do not buy artifacts of
any kind if you intend to sell them.
Artifacts have been broken up into four categories First are OFFENSIVE
artifacts, then DEFENSIVE artifacts, then STATISTIC-ALTERING artifacts, and
then MISCELLANEOUS artifacts.
They did exist.

That's a carryover from Achaea. Lusternia has never had stat-altering artifacts.

Feel free to use it, I'll do a damage test now, hopefully, or maybe I won't.

Plus, Lusty have stat caps so stat altering runes would hardly be effective on most occasions.

Above 25 has been reached before, thought perhaps that was a bug.

Are you back, or just teasing us by drudging up old threads?

Not really an old thread. It was on the front page of its respective forum.
